I got my 16570 black dial yesterday, it really is a nice watch on the wrist

I am expecting to recieve my 216570 hands by next week

I don't know if we are ok with ebay links but here is a link to a listing for an other set of hands from the same dealer I bought mine from:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Rol...item43db2a7faa

Ho and a picture of my "new" 2003 explorer 2 that will get the transplant soon:

Now get a 16550 bezel, and you have yourself a 40mm 216570.

They're a drop-in direct fit.

Needless to say that I just bought a set of hands from a 216570 just after that and the orange hand is going to finish on my incoming 16570
That's a beauty right there!

Ok thanks for the information
I don't see a huge difference between the bezel from the 16570 and the 16550

Any Explorer 16550 or 16570 modified with orange GMT hand?

My guess is that fitzs may have meant a 1655 bezel? Maybe? So that you could have a modern "1655" with the orange GMT hand and the older style bezel.

Either way, I really want to mod a polar 16570 with the 216570 orange hand.

Yes I think that it is what he meant.

I did not pay attention while buying my 216570 hand set but it is coming from a polar 216570.

IMO it is better looking than the one from the black face 216570 as the orange can be found on the entire hand not like the one I provided pictures of earlier in this thread.

I tried the 216570 polar this weekend, the size is way too big for me but it helped me see what the hand will look like on my 16570 and I can't wait too see the result.

My only concern is that the GMT hand may need to be shorten a bit if I am looking at the pics I posted and the pics of the actual 216570 hand

Will do :) hopefully next week, except if there is a mod needed at the tip of the hand, I will then need to find the correct orange color to put a tiny drop on it once cut :/

Yeah, looks like the tip of the hand had to be clipped....bummer....that complicates things a bit....getting into the realm of "chop shop"

I just gave my watch and orange hand to a watchsmith, he confirmed that the tip needs to be shortened a bit... If anyone as an idea for a matching orange color paint to put a tiny drop on it?!

Anyway, I told him to go ahead and we will see what it looks like even without the drop of paint, he is only taking 50€ to shorten the hand, fit it in and waterproof the watch. So 50€ more to re open it later to put a drop of paint is not going to bury a hole in my pocket...

So if anyone as ideas to source matching paint I'll be more than thankful, I was thinking that maybe " model-making" paint would do it.

Ok it is done, I just got a pic
I gave him a matching enamel paint and it looks like he did a good job.

I can't wait to get it back and see it IRL as pics don't always do justice.

Looks pretty good - well done! I had a black dial 216570 Explorer and loved the look but could not get used to the larger case. Could certainly go with a black dial 16570 with the orange hand mod though - definitely looks very nice!

Can't wait to see more pics. Can you say what enamel paint you used?

Thanks :)

Yes of course, I bought two different shades of orange but I think that the one used was the Humbrol 018 orange gloss enamel.

http://www.humbrol.com/uk-en/catalog.../category/110/

I will confirm when I get it back along with some pics.

I like it but honestly I would have preferred the orange hand to come from Black dial 216570. That still looks more 'correct' to my eyes!

I had the choice but preferred to pick the full orange as the other hands are not "ghost"

Here is a first pic IRL, it's a bit dark here already so I'll post more in the coming days.

I know some would consider this blasphemous, but lately I've been wanting an Explorer II with orange GMT hand. The 1655 is way over my budget, and the 216570 (at 42MM) is too large for me. I really love the orange hand on the two models I mentioned.
