Help needed with Rolex REFERENCE - 5070?
Hello everyone, this is my first post on here.
I have a 1949 Rolex Oyster with a (Super Oyster Crown) Inverted number 3 - 9 The Reference is 5070, I have contacted Rolex and they are looking into this more as they are struglling with finding information. Well, it's a manual-wind Rolex with Super Oyster crown, with nice original dial. Probably from the 1950-52 period. The Super Oyster was Rolex's failed experiment of using a non-screw-down crown (and complex gasket system) for water resistance. By 1953 they recognized that didn't really work as intended, so began again using screw-down crowns (those Brevet crowns with the + symbol), and retrofitted these on many of the Super Oyster crowns on watches brought in for service.
