Expl. 2 black 42mm, what next Migauss or SubC ND

Hi all,

I have & love a Expl. 2 Black 42mm. Itching for another Rolex, looking at Sub.C ND or Milgauss black (clear ) or GV black/ Z Blue dial. Tried the white Migauss & sadly it was not for me, looked great in photos just not in person.

Any tips for a second Rolex my budget is in the price range of these models. The Expl. 2 is my daily work watch, looking for weekend / casual / formal watch. Looked at the Datejust 2 & the silver & black dials look OK in photos, not so sure about a DD2 though..........

As someone that owns a EXP II in black, I would consider a 116610LV for my second watch.

I agree here. I think the 114060 would make more sense if you had the white dial. I own both and they are a great stainless combination. The LV would be a perfect addition given your situation.

Interesting opinions here !

I can't stretch price wise to the LV, only the posted options for me :(

Was thinking the Milgauss because of the orange theme on both & that theme will then complimante each other as a 2 watch set.

Although a Sub. C ND is hardly a poor choice either and I'll have it as a take to work option as well.

I'd go with the z blue Milgauss. Having 2 black and orange watches doesn't give much versatility.

I'd have a look at the DJII again. You have a sports Rolex so the more dressier DJII would compliment well. Silver, blue or white dials look great. Doesn't sound like your collection will stop at two, so it's just a matter of what's next until the next itch. Perhaps the 114060 as your third.

I like the millie for what you're going to use it for. If you go with the sub, it's very similar to what you already own. Just my thoughts,

The Sub. C ND was gone by the time I went back

Nice second prize though...............

I could not decide for an hour between this & the Z Blue GV or the Milgauss clear crystal black dial, tough , tough choice. Even looked at a DJ2 smooth bezel. The small winding crown let it down for me though.

SubC ND is a classic. Good pairing to the Polar Explorah.

Milgauss - Clean dial. Elegantly simple. Goes with anything. Just a tad playful.

If you want to diversify, the Z blue would be a great choice. The Milgauss looks great in person. The little details which make the watch "out there" disappear from 5 ft. away, and it just looks like a more robust DJ II without the cyclops. From upclose, those small details are there for you to enjoy.

I'd go for the Polar 216570 to complement the black 216570 :)

I like yourself but the other way round had the polar explorer and wanted another and after looking around realised the Explorer II was the perfect watch for me, I loved everything about it, so went with the black dial which I love equally.

Any Migaus with a GV throws a nice curveball to any Rolex collection. Great for a weekend watch or just to mix it up. Whereas the Sub always feels like an expected classic. I would personally get a Z blue now and consider a SDc for a future addition, just to have a dive watch.

I have both the Sub ND and the black Exp II 216570, to me they are almost too similar to have as the only two watches in your collection.

If it were me I would get something with PCL's to change it up, so I would go with the Milgauss Black with clear crystal. I'm not a fan of the green crystal. I really wish they made the Milgauss Blue with a clear crystal.
