What brand NATO are you using on your SDc - trouble with fit

I've got a Maratac that I got from Countycomm.com but it's too thick to pass between the case and the spring bar.

What brand is thin enough to pass through?

I wear a black/blue NATO with my BLNR, looks great! I think I got it from natostraps.com but frankly I don't remember specifically. A lot of vendors have them.

Thanks, I'm sure that color combination looks great, but I'm referring specifically to the SDc.

The case size is unique to this reference and therefore possibly the space between the case and springbar.

Yeah total bs I ran into the same problem with the maratac. SDc is a tight squeeze so I use a spring bar set that came with my rubber b for SDc. I believe it's slightly thinner.

Hey Frank, I just started a thread on this topic a week or two ago that I believe answers all of your concerns about this.

I only use a Maratac on my SD4k, and it takes me not a second more to put it on then it did my Sub's, however you just have to do it differently then your used to. It might even be faster by a second or two actually!

Either way....read through my thread:

Personally, I would an Admiralty Grey NATO strap from Phoenix Straps, who supplied the original straps to Rolex. And the ones fitted on the Mili Subs

+1. Much better than Maratac (I own both).

This is a thread I can get into!!! Love the nato on Rolex divers....I shop @cheapestnatostraps - you'll find the quality is solid and the choices are almost endless. Nylon, leather, PVD....enjoy the process and the diversity!

Spring Hiking

This weekend was ideal for hiking with the kids. Went through some thorn bushes as you can see from my arm to reach a hidden water fall. SD was gleaming of course. I have mine fitted with a Dagaz Nato, it is identical to the Maratac in nylon, weave, length. The only difference is that the hardware is bead blasted(darker look) on the Dagaz. I quickly brushed it with 1000 grit sand paper and gave it the same look as the Maratac. Dagaz is cheaper and includes shipping. another mod as you can see is that I cut one of the layers of the strap to get it sitting lower. After an extensive search I found none that fit without taking the spring bars out. Depending on your lifestyle it is wise to use shoulderless springbars as the original will come off if band is pulled sideways.

YOu have to take the springbars off to put the thicker NATOs on.

I do it every time I switch

yup - it has to come off otherwise you'll get damage to the strap along the center - if you look at Glidelock's post - and I did the same thing to my leather nato (it's a distressed one so what's one more scar right?) and it now has that distressed racing stripe right down the middle .

saying that - want a distressed racing stripe down your nato?! for only 8kUSD you can get your very own distressing machine from Rolex... ;)

It's my ONLY gripe about the SDc

My girlfriend gave me a Bulang and Sons leather NATO a few months ago and I almost did that with mine. Actually their instructions say "remove spring bars to prevent damage" or something to that effect. I of course, didn't read the instructions - but she did - luckily!

I was so ready to pull the strap through the first springbar and it would've been ruined for sure.

Guys, please pretty please post some pics to me of your SDC on a leather NATO, as I think I might want to pick one up too!

It doesn't work on a Nato for me, sits too high on the wrist.

This is why I prefer the RAF style, which does not have the double strap under the watch.

Phoenix and Maratec both have it. The only metal is the buckle. None of those S&M contraptions simply to hold the leftover end of the strap.

For me, I don't feel at all like it sits to hi w/ a NATO, and for my personal taste easily prefer the whole look of the NATO styling with the fold over etc., not to mention the added safety bonus of the NATO design not allowing for you to lose the watch head due to a spring bar failure.

Having worn an 16660 before on a NATO, I can tell you the 116660 actually seems to sit slightly lower, more like a 16610 in my opinion.
