Thanks. I have no idea! I haven't serviced a bunch of these 1556's so I don't know how common that particular engraving is on this movement. I don't remember ever seeing this before.

ROW stands for "ROlex Werke" where "Werke" is the German word for "Factory". I've seen it many times engraved on some Valjoux movements to indicate that they were made for Rolex but I don't remember having seen it on Rolex in-house movements...

Me too!

I always assumed that meant "Rest Of World" meaning export out of Europe, to include Asia as well as the US (and Africa too I suppose)
