I'm just curious about the bezel. It seems to be thinner on the DJ41 v the DJII, am I mistaken?

I tried them both on at the AD yesterday, although both 41MM the newer model "feels" a bit... Thinner? Hard to describe. The bezel looks a bit different, I THINK there are more ridges but just a guess. They really are close. For me, the deal is the new movement, I really am one of those that have to have the latest and greatest. The question is now, do I wait for the SS to be released, or go with the TT.

I don't understand releasing the DJ41 in only two tone. I mean I get that next year we will see the same happen in stainless steel but it seems like the line will be a little disjointed over the next year. Will the two tone DJIIs be continued? Likely not.

My thought was the stainless steel DJIIs would just be re-branded as the DJ41 with new movements. Next year at Basel, we'd likely see the addition of the new Jubilee bracelet (which sadly I am not a fan of the clasp).

Yeah it made me unhappy too Evan, it would have been awsome to have the SS version released with the TT; typical Rolex I am pretty sure though. Well, let's hope the SS makes a surprise appearance maybe this fall, in models we will all like

I was going to buy a Datejust II blue dial this month. I was saving up and have an occasion to celebrate. I also know many people will give the advice to just buy what you like and don't worry about what is coming out next year but it is not as if I won't be able to get a BNIB Datejust II blue dial if the stainless steel offerings are not what I expected. I think it is worth waiting for a new movement.

As a result, I've actually changed my mind regarding my next purchase and will wait until next year to see the models offered in stainless steel (I think this is a relatively safe prediction).

I think it's a safe prediction too... I certainly hope so!!! If not, Rolex will really be missing the ball

If it is like the current 36mm but in the larger size I will snap one of these up myself. I think they're gorgeous but I'm not too keen on the smaller 36mm size.

I'd love to have been a fly on the wall when the DJ brand manager came into he boardroom and said we think we need a DJ41 but with a new name...

At a glance, most people seem to prefer the DJ41, but based on pics, I may like the DJII better. The bezel seems "wider" and that's my favorite part of the watch. I already asked in this thread, but can anyone confirm if the bezel is indeed "thinner"?

Hoping someone can post a pic soon of them side by side from a few angles so we can see the differences.

Yes, bezel and hour markers are noticeably thinner.

Thank you. That alone makes me like the DJII better. I would love a side by side pic if someone has one. I have been searching the forums and google, and haven't really found one yet.

I'm in the market for a TT DJ2 either black or slate dial, I've owned a white gold 36mm DJ on a jubilee bracelet and a white gold DJ2 on the oyster bracelet, I prefer the Jubilee bracelet on any DJ. I'm not to keen on the DJ41 dial colours so I guess I'll have stick with looking for a TT DJ2. I wonder how rolex came to decide on the dial colours for the DJ41 I think dark blue and black dials should be included as standard...

Just thought I would add some pics to this thread. Tried on the new 41 in Vancouver last week. The changes to the bezel, case, and stick markers make this watch look much more proportioned and elegant IMO. The way the bracelet integrates into the case is much more refined as well. Then of course you get all the technical upgrades of the new movement. And they did not raise the price from the DJ2!! To me it is a no brainer. If I was in the market for a stainless I would wait.

I'm going for the DJ41 with black dial with baton(stick) markers on a Jubilee bracelet when discounted prices start to appear here in the UK around September/October hopefully....

I just traded a 16 YO white faced SS DateJust II for a 41mm white faced DJ. Both watches are beautiful. I made the trade for the larger face and new mechanics. I also went from Jubilee to Oyster band. I still like the Jubilee though.

That's bizarre... The DJ2 hasn't been around for 16 years.

Really like the changes to the DJ41, especially the hour markers. But, having said that, I just got rid of my DJ2 and don't really see another DJ in the collection...but you never know.

New DJII at a good price....

I eventually bought a new TT DJII with black dial and gold Roman numeral markers. The reason I went for the DJII was I got a new one in March 2016 for £6400 from a retailer who had a DJ41 imported from Europe for a footballer for £9000. For the £2600 difference it was a no brainer. Maybe one day I'll go for a DJ41 in the mean time I'll enjoy the DJII...

I went with the Datejust 41 with black dial and jubilee bracelet. The proportions are spot on IMO.
