First post, first vintage Rolex 14k 1005

So I've been following this forum for a while, saving my pennies for my first vintage (I have my heart set on a nice Pepsi 1675) and usually troll eBay and other online avenues as well.

So the other night I find a nice all gold vintage that catches my eye. Ive always loved the look of a gold watch on a leather strap, so I started following the auction. Auction comes to the end and I throw in a bid, expecting the price to go up quite a bit at the end. However, as fortune would have it, no one outbid me in the final seconds and now I am the owner of a 1965? 14k Rolex 1005 and my 1675 fund is all but depleted.

Anyway, here are some pictures, what do you all think and does it look all original? I was happy to see it included an original? gold bracelet and has an infamous "underline" on the dial. I think it will clean up nicely, although I think I might go for new glass just for waterproofing. I also may sell the bracelet to recoup some cost put it on leather. Any idea on a value for the bracelet in that condition?

Any recommendations for a good independent Rolex repair shop in Lexington, Ky?

Nice! I remember seeing this watch on Ebay about a week ago and admiring it. Love the classy look. All looks to be original to me. Not sure about the value of the bracelet in its present condition, but I would keep it if I were you. That watch looks perfect on it. Classy without being in your face. Great find!

This sounds cheesy, but go to the Castle Jewelry Store on New Circle Rd. I worked for them back in the day. Their watch guys/ jewelers are all Rolex Pro's and work on them all the time.

I saw what you paid, you did well. It'd be a shame to separate that bracelet from the watch! A tragedy really. Just keep the bracelet and put it away. The next owner will really appreciate that.

Personally I wouldn't wear it on a NATO!

The bracelet can be restored, but it is pricier than for a steel bracelet...
