Another great watch.

Did I read somewhere that they are turning the frequency off that the civilian version works on soon.

Will that make them a watch only then ?? Will there or is there an Emergency II

Sorry to hear that, and anyone who has earned one of those watches and some have two of them have also earned my greatest respect

I think I recall seeing my selfie in the latest Bremont catalogue. They didn't even send me a copy! Nevertheless I do enjoy my Bremonts.

I'm honored to fly the U-2, she is so enjoyable to fly but humbles me often.

Spectacular collection and photos. Nice work vipereaper30!

I flew as a Captain for a Major US airline until 2007 when I medically retired. Had 26 years in at that time and worked for 3 Airlines in my career. Its very very rare when you see a Airline Pilot wearing a Rolex at work. I wore a Breitling Aerospace for 10 years and that was as fancy as I got.

Most IMO wear a cheap disposable watch like a G-shock or equivelent watch. The Captain on the plane I flew (737) works the tiller for steering on the ground with his left hand. Very little clearance between the back of your wrist and the inside wall and your watch takes a beating over time banging into stuff. Especially the face of the watch. My Breitling was very thin and weathered it pretty well.

I did own a Rolex at the time and wore it for nicer occasions while not at work. This way I could control it and not worry about it getting stole out of my hotel room while working out. Plus some of our hotels over the years were in various parts of downtownn areas that were undesirable.

This is an awesome thread. Heck, I even went to Youtube and wound up subscribing to "The Pilot Channel" where the adventures of a 747 are video taped from the cockpit. So damn cool...especially at night. Also watched a vid of a U-2 Spy plane ascending to 80,000 feet and then back down for the landing. Simply amazing. Pilots rock!

My father flew for Northwest for 30 years, and I don't recall him having anything special for a watch. I do remember a Bulova tank he wore in the late 40's and early 50's.

Same with Rolex dive watches, target audience never even get their watches wet.
I see what you were saying in your earlier post. I get the genre you're speaking of. I'm in the Air Force and I'm friends with a Breitling AD in Pensacola, FL. They always have a steady stream of young flying graduates getting Breitlings.

I'm sure you weren't speaking for all Breitling owners. Being a pilot for 23 years, right? I'm sure you've seen your fair share of "those people".

In my experience, my early journey included Breitling. When I was younger, I was attracted to it's bold styling. I was a always in the water when I lived in FL, so I had divers. As I've gotten older, my taste has gotten more conservative and I'm more attracted to Rolex's more modest sizing and simple designs.

C17 pilot here, been to every continent except Antarctica and fly with whatever I feel like wearing. If I'm going through multiple timezones or crossing the IDL, I'll usually take my timex.. just easier.

Aviation is a small world. I've known several people who met Chuck and found him arrogant and condescending. I've personally met a couple of other WWII Mustang drivers at airshows who were the definition of humility, grace, and class. Bud Anderson and Bob Hoover. There's a couple of celebrities I can get behind. Not sure if they wear a Rolex or not. I once had the great pleasure of watching Bob sublimely fly the hell out of a Shrile Commander. Everyone at the show was ooohing and aaahing the military demonstrations but those of us in the know knew who really put on a show that day.

The new system is 406 GPS based, which is a huge improvement. The old frequency (121.5) will always be monitored by enroute pilots since they know that lives could depend on a quick rescue. Any Mayday calls in a non controlled airspace are also sent on 121.5, so FAA stations and center controllers also regularly monitor too, and always will.

Nice pics! That Omega is sweet. Been eyeing a Seamaster Planet Ocean 600 lately.

You a viper driver? Thank you for your service, Sir.
If I recall correctly, you have a throttle on the left and a yoke on the right? I'd be the guy in that smoking wad of twisted metal in a crater, after trying to fly that thing. But in my opinion, that's the most beautiful bird in the sky.

I'm not a pilot. Got about halfway through bug-smasher school and decided it wasn't for me.

Breitling Navitimer World GMT is the perfect pilots watch.
