Just being curious..
Hey guys,
Just being curious, is the Daytona the ultimate sports watch? As is top of the line from Rolex? If you could only have one watch, would it be a Daytona? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ultimate? Totally in the eyes of the beholder. For me it's the GMT.

What? Only one watch? Inconceivable!
Well, if it had to be one, I would probably choose one of the Subs |

It's without a doubt Rolex most hyped model and extremely sought after. I personally don't really like chronograph watches.

Funny, Rolex really struggled with Daytona sales until the 16520. They heavily discounted the Daytona four digit models in the 70's and 80's...now they are worth a fortune.
I hardly ever wear my Daytona. I prefer A Sub or GMT.

At the moment, my ultimate is my 2009 GMT IIc. There isn't a day that goes by where I don't just sit and stare at it. More so now for a bit since it is brand new back from a service.
Daytona - I had an itch to scratch, however chose poorly. I had a TT MOP dialled with diamond markers. In pictures it was stunning. On my wrist it was illegible! lol. I need reading glasses and found it very hard to read and I missed a date on my watch. I liked it, but that was not enough for what it cost me so I got rid. BUT, I will say this, I think I would love the SS White dialled ceramic Daytona.

I think the Sub, Daytona and GMT are all very popular models here, none is the best, all have their place, it's obviously subjective.

If I could only have one Rolex, it would be the YG Sky-Dweller or YG Subc.

For me, it would be my old DayDate. Been with me for a very long time. I like the newer watches in my small collection, but the DD would be the last to go.

Platona will be ultimate in price.
DSSD ultimate in diving depth. You have to clarify your criteria a bit better. |

I'm trying to think of a sport that requires a GMT function.

It's all personal preference. For me? Nope, the ultimate is the diver series... submariner or sea dweller. But to each, their own!

Totally disagree with this. I grew up coveting Rolex watches...mainly the Sub and Datejust. I never really knew about the Daytona until I started browsing watch sites on the internet, many years later.

Nope! I like the look, however, it's small size making the dial too busy and no date are deal breakers for me.
