Seadweller 4000 to Sub C Date?

Would anyone consider moving backwards ( Not that I consider it a downgrade) from a Seadweller 4000 Ceramic to Sub C Date or would you think I'm crazy? I love my Seadweller more than anything and love the rarity factor but something always intrigues me about the submariner. I used to have the No date Sub C and enjoyed my time with that. Would you wait until after baselworld first and then weigh up your options or do you think the Sd4k is a solid keeper for life and future classic?

Sounds like you want a change just for change sake? I'd stick with the Seadweller. I'm not a fan of the oversized lugs on the Sub... looks like a box on the wrist.

I would wait until Basel to see what comes out. I have never owned a SD4K but I have tried one on numerous times. I personally love the sub and don't think it would be a downgrade at all. You are going to get all the SD4K owners to come in and talk you off the ledge don't worry, so I say go for it

I like the bigger case of the sub and it sits flatter than the SD.

What is making you want to change?

i would hang on to the sd4k as they are about to discontinue it and it will become rare.

FWIW i have a sub and the sd4ka and they get equal wear.

Being a one watch man I think its just the typical Rolex 1 year itch but there is just a more prestigious feeling about owning a Submariner in a way. I was enjoying the look of the Hulk but think you can't go wrong with black, how it was meant to be. I think the Seadweller is a well under rated watch, at least going by the apparent sales but there is also something ultra special about wearing it! Maybe a change of job is needed instead so I can afford more of these beautiful pieces!

My thoughts:

If you are truly a one watch guy, then it's hard to beat a sub being a one and only. On the other hand, you say you love your SD more than anything.

So...I guess if I were you, I would wait and see what Basel world brings, and in the meantime be doing a lot of back to back comparisons/trying ons of the sub and SD.

If I was a one watch guy, I'd keep SD4K.

If it fits comfortably, I'd keep it.........I've heard, from former 116600 owners that it was not comfy, too top heavy, etc.
I have a 14060 & 16610, I wear bracelet on the loose side, no problems, but then again they're not as tall & heavy, that's what concerns me about the 116600 & even 16600.

I've had no problems wearing the Seadweller, once you remove the dive extension and links and glidelock it in it is perfectly comfortable.

The heart of the Sub date C, SD C and DSSD are the same so to me neither is inferior or superior to the other.
I'd defenetely wait until after Baselword to make a decision.

Yeah will do. I may just end up keeping the Seadweller after all but appreciate the good input from forum members. I think Baselworld will be the deadline to make the decision.

I had a sd4000 but traded it for a two tone subc. The subc is just a perfect watch. There's a reason why it's so popular. You can't go wrong with a sub.

This is funny, I am approaching my 1yr anniversary with my sub c (my one and only Rolex) and have thought I should consider the sd4k. After all there have been so many people boasting about how great the watch is and how they prefer over the modern day sub. I've even gone to my local ad to try one on twice. But at the end of the day I've concluded it was the one year itch and I should be happy with what I have. In addition i was concerned about the thickness of the sd given I wear dress shirts 5 days a week...

At the end of the day I think they are both amazing and great watches and to me very similar in appearances. I would suggest staying put with what you have and continue to be happy with it for the reasons you first purchased. I think you should only make the trade if the size for some reason doesn't work for you anymore.

They are so similar it's not a big choice for me, altho if a RSDc or DRSDc was released I'd possibly move my subc for it.

It would be interesting to know if they were the same retail price which one would be the best seller out of the Sub and SD4K

Definitely wouldn't consider it a downgrade. More of a lateral move.

I'd wait until after Basel though, never know what the Crown has up it's sleeve.

Seadweller 4000 to Sub C Date?

I have the SD4K and Hulk, which are my two favorites. If it came down to it, SD4K wins going away. I really enjoy the lack of cyclops, the glidelock, and the way it sits on my wrist. Perfect for me.

I don't think the move from SD4K to subC would be a downgrade, per se, but it's not a move I would make.

I think from a pure comfort and simplicty perspective, the nod has to go to the subC. Otherwise, if the sdC is comfortable to you and you want the date, stick with it. If you need the date and want more comfort, then subC date it is. I think few will disagree, you can not go wrong with any one of them.

You've found the best solution: work toward that new Sub C!

It's all personal preference. I'd hang on to the SD4K personally, and work my way towards adding the Sub to my collection. If it's absolutely a no-question one-watch collection, I'd wait until Basil and see what the future of the much rumored demise of the 116600 tells... then make a decision.

Keep the SD4k. It's less common in the wild. If they do discontinue it after Basel they will be less common with only a 30 month run. Subs greatly out number SD4k. Btw I'm not putting the Sub down as I have a 116613 also.

Keep it. I love my SubCLV but I'm drawn more and more to my SD. Lately, when I wear my sub I think the lugs look slightly "off." I think the SD is perfect, where my LV is nearly perfect.

Help me out

I can't decide if I choose to buy a submariner 114060 or
The sea dweller 116600. This will be my first Rolex guys so please be considerate. Currently I'm enjoying my tudor black bay black. But still I'm having the itch of the Rolex sub or the sea dweller. I have read each flaws like the boxy lugs of the sub and the thickness of the sd. I have only tried the subC
I'm not really sure if the lug looks ok with my wrist

SD4K to a SubdateC is a big downgrade.
You only gain a cyclops but you lose a masterpiece of Rolex engineering.

Don't even consider doing this.
