Haha ok for real rip that puppy open and let's see it on the wrist. Unless you want to share the moment with the wife which would be lovely too. Either way we look forward to the wrist shots. Congrats! |

Do you guys recommend a watch winder? I don't plan to wear the watch everyday. Maybe between 1-3 times a week.
Will a watch winder wear out the watch faster? Or is it better to keep the mainspring wound? If ever I need a watch winder where can i buy a decent one? Lucerne doesn't have stock at the moment. |

It's personal preference but I'd never keep an uncomplicated watch on a winder. I'd only consider one for a calendar/ moon phase piece. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

thanks waspy1. so it won't harm the watch if i wind it manually every time it stops? i read somewhere that it might cause premature wear and tear on the winding mechanism?

Wow you bought a winder for a 5711..... so you will now have the perfect excuse to get a much more complicated Patek, because you really don't need a winder for a 5711

Lol
My rationale for getting a winder (kindly correct me if i'm wrong): the winding stem and seals will wear out faster if i keep winding the watch every time i wear it. since i plan to wear the watch only once or twice a week i'd probably have to wind it once or twice a week. To minimize winding, i plan to switch on the winder only on those days i'm not wearing the watch and only during day time. this would simulate my wearing the watch everyday and taking it off before i go to bed. so wear and tear would be the same as if i wore the watch everyday. does this make sense? :) |
