Decision/advice: Submariner or Pepsi...
Oh dear,
I wrote a lengthy post on about the question on my mind... to wit, whether to get a Submariner from the 60s (or so I was told) as my first Rolex, or a Pepsi. And now the post is nowhere to be found.. - is that because it would have been my 2nd post only, and it has to get checked first? I don't know. Anyway, here's the shorter version once again. I am in the lucky position to soon be gifted a Rolex. I've always wanted to have one, but never actually been ready to pull the trigger. Now, I am being gifted one, lucky me - but which one? I narrowed it down to 2 - the Sub and the Pepsi. Love'em both, just so iconic, classic, beautiful, and chunky. Since I am in no way a collector, but wouldn't mind making this my first piece of maybe a small collection, which one would be the wiser choice? The Submariner has a beautiful tropical dial, and I dig that. The Pepsi is red, and blue, and looks great. It's a tough one. Purely from a 'wise investment' perspective, which one would be the better pick? And from an aesthetic point of view? One is at Tourney in NYC, the other at Aron Faber. Should be legit both, right? Is it normal though that you never get a 'certificate of authenticity' of some sort? There was also a beautiful Osyterqartz on display, which I thought looked great. But a quartz Rolex seems odd to me... right? Looks good, though.... I want my first Rolex to be a smart purchase, and want it to be the 'right' decision - but that's not so easy. Curious to read your thoughts! Here's the photos: |

...so it was indeed thus - post had to get approved by moderator first, and now it is double. Whatever, the subject is the same...
