This is incoming later next week - but I am wondering what exactly it is? This is an 'albino' dial, and I understand they are uncommon, if not rare, especially in 18xx Day Dates, and in this 'sunburst' style.

But what are these dials - have they faded to this golden tone, with white script and hash marks - or is this their original configuration? Is this how it was shipped from the factory by Rolex; is this another type of 'tropical' dial?

Or is this a re-dial?

That's the original configuration. I have two of them tucked away, one is NOS and the other scooped up on ebay. I have noticed the ones I've seen range from golden grayish to a definite gray, lighter to a bit darker. Mine are close to each other but not quite.

Next time I go to the bank I'll take some pics.

I believe these to be original configuration, yes. More common in Datejust and Date versions perhaps, but correct.

The cream text on champagne can prove illegible in many lights and it is not a style of dial I have found attractive or especially commercial on the past. White on silver can be a little better.

I tried for better pics of my albino but it's a tough one. Mine has minute tracks which were produced briefly late in the 18XX run. Minute tracks were standard in the superseding 5 digit run.

Isn't that also called a ghost dial? Referring to the white lettering being hard to see....like a ghost. Lol
