Costco is considered gray dealer?

So was at my local Costco and saw this. Very decent price. However, the costco rep couldn't really answer any questions about the warranty other than it's covered by the Costco policy. Went to my local AD and they said it's difficult to match their prices given they are not authorized dealers.

Are there any downsides to buying from Costco vs. an AD if the price is right?

some say this...i don't believe it....IF the watch is in the same condition, sure..maybe....if the watch has a cracked bezel and skid marks on the case i cannot see a refund from costco....

a rolex is not a $400 canoe

in fact i am going to go to costco tomorrow and ask and if i can return anytime in any condition than i will just buy, wear for a year and get a full refund....repeat....

I asked this question last year when I was looking at a Breitling from Costco. The answer was yes, they would refund the full purchase price with no expiration date. I didn't buy it but if they had a BLNR, I would snap it up straight away.

Long time Costco member here... yes they will take it back and issue a full refund. No questions asked.

Yes. That's correct. Abuse is not covered. Manufacturer defects are. (Mother in law is a senior senior employee at Costco and we are very long time members.)

If true Costco are blind dummies. i hope this is case because if so, daddys gonna have a new rolex annually for FREE.....all it will cost me is the small interest..

and thats a bargain because if i purchase from an AD i will lose approx $1000 once i walk out the door!

They do have an awesome return policy but I am sure with high priced watches that will change if people take advantage of it.

Buying a nice watch at Costco has a few benefits:

1) Return it any time for a full refund.
2) Costco will also warranty the watch.
If warranty is denied, see step 1

3) If you have a Costco Executive membership,you'll get a rebate check for 1 or 2 percent of your yearly purchases or spend at Costco. Can't recall the exact percentage. Consider that as a further discount.

No AD or trusted seller will ever be able to offer that.

I haven't seen any Rolex models that appeal to me at Costco but I have seen very good deals on BNIB Rolex. (Just none to my tastes)

Have also seen Patek, AP and Panerai many times but have zero interest. My Costco for some reason always has 4 or 5 Breitlings, again no interest for me.

I just got off the phone with costco usa and asked:

"can i purchase a $20000 rolex and return after 5 years damaged and beat up & get full refund?"

answer was: NO

only manufacture defect is covered......Costco will not warranty a rolex or any other watch that has been abused or damaged in anyway

I explained to them that this is the word on the street and they laughed!!!!

I will also walk into my costco store tomorrow

furthermore their are 90 day limits on most products....this is stated on their website and 48hrs on PM jewellery, also on their website...

I did. I saw someone return a destroyed vacuum cleaner right in front of me. I thought it was sleazy but they got a refund.

return policy for all products is on webpage. i called that # and spoke with a costco concierge who gave me his costco id # etc and answered my questions. when you first call you need to manoeuvre through the options via keypad to get to proper dept
