more details on this ? fake or authentic

a friend is offering me this watch, he says it was his late father's watch. I tried researching and couldn't find a steel date just jubilee bracelet with a champagne dial on a white background date wheel. should i stay away from it ?

Isn't the roman numeral 4 - IV? *edit* But I see it both ways as IIII and IV on the stick dials.

There are a few other things that bother me about this watch. I'd pass unless you can get better details (photos between lugs, case back off, etc).

That looks like a 16234 (WG bezel). The champagne stick dial and white date wheel did come with a jubilee bracelet. An example is here https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=306442

I can't say whether yours is good, but the wise and knowledgeable will be along soon to authenticate your images.

Since he is a friend, take it to a watchmaker and authenticate it.
But the dial/date wheel combo you asked about does occur in the DJ.
