I thought the big improvement is that the complication is done by way of bezel click a la Skydweller? Are we being woodpeckers and finding only the dead trees in the forest?

I don't get the new hands either but never understood the disdain for the complication. I can't imagine what percentage of forum members have any use for any of the complications but I'd surmise it's in the very low single digits. Frankly, we don't need a watch to know the time either. We just dig the watches for personal reasons and that's enough for me.

Although I agree it doesn't really matter if I or anyone else commenting weren't actually planning to purchase these watches, but if everyone only commented on watches they either owned or planned to own in the near future, this forum would fold very quickly.

I always love the look of the watch but now they ruined the hands. Maybe they can make BLUE merc hands. One thing I never liked in this watch is that name YACHTMASTER II on the bezel. They couldn't be more creative and place something else on the bezel and name on the dial. Imagine writing SUBMARINER or SEA-DWELLER on the ceramic bezel..

My guess is the improvement is in the bottom line because the hands are now more interchangeable with other models

I prefer the old hands. I do like the new triangle at 12 on the dial though.

Another issue is that the new triangle at 12 overlaps the closest seconds marker on each side so you only have 3 second marks between 55-60 and 60-5. Just looks really off to me.

The original just makes much more sense.

I agree, but just like the DSSD, after wearing my new YM2 for a few weeks now, the wording has sort of disappeared from my consciousness.

Someone like me who has nearly 8 in wrists. I'm kind of stuck choosing between only the DSSD and YM2 in Rolex.

The blued hands were great. This latest handset looks odd in pics, but will withhold opinion until have seen IRL.

The rolex yachtmaster 2 in my opinion is the most beautiful watch in the rolex line.

If I recall correctly, the reason Rolex gave for the name on the bezel was because the names of yachts are written prominently on their hulls.

I agree on SS, but think the YG YM2 looks better than the YG SkyD so they should be fine.

Hand don't look white on the Rolex site; more like white gold/silver/steel matching the lume surrounds. I like the mercedes hour hand as well.

I imagine they put the text there to fill the void, as there wouldn't be any numerals, just plain blue, which may not look visually balanced.

I like the modifications and the new YG YM2 will likely be my next purchase after the soon to be achieved AP one. I just wish they'd put a glidelock on it though, like the DSSD has.

Be glad that she has Easylink at all and not the clasp of the Sky-Dweller. ;-)
