Incoming...Oyster Perpetual

Hello TRF,

I've been a fan of the Oyster Perpetual--the epitome of a simple, classic watch, of a perfect marriage of form and function, sans complication--for several years. The 36mm OP, I discovered a few years ago, happens to fit me quite well, and I've enjoyed the use of a silver dial OP in 36mm ever since.

In the last few weeks, I've been scrolling through the Rolex website. Dangerous, but fun. I toyed with the idea of a Datejust. I toyed with a few options. Two tone. White dial. Silver dial. Champagne dial. Jubilee bracelet. White gold? Fluted bezel? Polished?

I kept coming back to the OP, though.

Yesterday, I stoped in the Rolex Boutique in Beverly Hills run by Geary's. Great selection and got to see all those possibles in the steel.

And the winner? Happily, the least costly of the bunch!

Here it is...

Incoming...Oyster Perpetual

Thank you, all. I really think this is a watch that offers remarkable value. Some might think of it as an entry Rolex, due to its relatively low price point, but, for me, it's something I came to appreciate only after years of sports models...the Submariner, Explorer, Daytona, GMT...

I was really thinking about a foray into precious metal, but in the steel, the simplicity of the OP, with the 3-6-9 dial, and the Oyster bracelet, grabbed me. As for the dial, the depth of that blue and its varying appearance depending on light really won me over.

Great choice! I'd love to see your silver dial OP as well. I am considering one myself.

Is that lume on the 3 6 and 9? What color is the lume; blue or green? Is that 36mm?

I can assure you that no one considers this a entry rolex! It is an amazing watch and of course is by no means at a low price point! I really like the blue dial!

Very true...I only meant low price point as compared to other models. By any reasonable standard, it's damned expensive!
