Daytona C 116500 Production

I spoke with an employee of my Rolex AD this morning to discuss Baselword releases. Came across an interesting tidbit of information that 116500LN production is about 2,000 watches per year, globally.

That being said, who knows how accurate this, but thought it would be worth passing along for those interested.

That is astonishingly low, if true.

And pretty ridiculous...

Sounds unlikely. However, my local AD has only had one since launch.

That's borderline criminal....

I understand wanting to keep your product in high demand and not flood the market, but that is just crazy if true. It's looking more and more like i'm just going to have to bite the bullet and just pay the premium.....Sad face

My AD is a privately owned dealer in a major metro location. They have several locations that are ADs and they said they only received a few last year total.

How much of that is them trying to sell me the Daytona C on Oysterflex is another story

Yes does sound low!

Also for comparison from two AD's I've dealt with in the past but not on the Daytona list, one has had 2 since release the other 8-9

I totally trust my Ad, he told me from the off he would receive one every three months in alternate colours and so far that has proved exactly correct

Sorry, but doubt your AD has access to this information.

More rumor mill.

Doubt it's accurate as well. Probably more so an effort to sell me their other references instead. Just passing along, no vested interest for me either way

Rolex peoduction

Rolex makes what 800,000 watches per year. That only 2,000 are Daytona C does not make sense. Is eveything Datejusts and Subs sitting in dealer's windows in huge numbers?

Not buying it... I know my AD well and this isn't true.
If that was the case and AD's only received 1 per year, SS models would probably fetch $30-40k in the grey market.

2000 seems very low, knowing that Rolex manufactures and sells 800,000+ watches a year.

I spoke to one large AD who told me they get 2 116500's a month, but the wait list is still 2+ years, with 50+ people on the wait list. And these are people who have placed a $2000 deposit on the watch.

From what i have heard Rolex is very secretive regarding how many of each watch they produce, and that ADs for the most part are in the blind with regard to what and when they are receiving new watches. Also, I've been told that ADs who comply with rolex's requirements for displays, square footage , etc typically get more inventory than the other ADs

My AD has had only 2 since launch but he is lowest tier AD. I know a top US AD who gets 2 a month since launch and their list is over 100 names long. So they are at 4 years to exhaust the list. They stopped taking names.

I seriously doubt 2000 is the number. I also talked to a couple high volume AD's(Vegas and NYC) who supposedly get 3-4 a month. Im guessing the # is more like 5-6000 a year and possibly much more.

I doubt that number is correct, but who knows. Now they have two more watches, that I assume, will use that same bezel.

The only people in the world who knows how many of a type of watch that Rolex produces...is Rolex. No AD in the world would know that. I sometimes feel that the stuff that ADs tell you and try to sell you is total horse manure. I seriously doubt that Rolex would be releasing any numbers to the general public anytime soon.

It's under production but when you hear ridiculous waiting lists it would make sense though

My small chain AD has a list of 100 people (I'm 18th) and they've yet to receive one.

2000 is both colours? Or just one becuause if just one I could imagine that number being too far off

Yep, both Rolex and Rolex ADs are in the business of selling expensive goods that you don't really need. They will say anything to make a sale.

The source on this would not have access to this type of information and the number is not realistic based on AD's world wide.
