To each his own I guess. Not sure about telling all the people on the forum listing Rolexes with 'stick' dials they're wrong though.

Mine is batons/sticks Roman just doesn't do it for me. According to the Rolex site, the DJ 36 with sticks/batons and with Roman list the same amount so I assume that the difference in price has to do with the dealer's having more difficulty in selling the Roman. I assume that you want a new watch, you can probably get an excellent used Datejust for a good deal less in the appearance that you want (I did this, but you may not want to). Do you mean the price difference is because of a deal you can find or because the fluted bezel is WG and so costs more than the smooth bezel? I would prefer sticks on a blue dial.

LOL, as if ADs know anything.

It was just this month a very large AD told me there is no difference between a DJ II and a DJ 41 other than one is only available in TT.

They don't know.

Love the stick dial...but convention WIS-dom says Romans look best with fluted/jubilee combo.

Batons is technically the correct term. Just like it's dial instead of face and bracelet instead of band. I can't stand when people call it the face or band. Especially band when referring to a metal bracelet.

My preference would be for the batons as I find either Roman or Arabic numerals at the indices to be unnecessary clutter.

I really prefer the dials from the 1960s and 1970s with the thinner batons and subdivided minutes.

I favor the batons. Note that on this model, the baton dial also sports romans (although very small). I have always liked that detail.

I walked into the 5th Ave Rolex Boutique on the day of the Basel release asking to try on DJ41 PM to see the fit, they kept on saying "you mean the DJ II? Because the DJ41 was just announced today." I finally relented and said yeah, the DJII. Hahaha.

Roman dial for me. Datejust with Jubilee bracelet, flutes bezel and a Roman dial is classic iconic Rolex. Love it.

If you are going blue dial, perhaps you should consider a blue Jubilee Roman dial. That is one hell of a combination.
