Traveling with an extra watch

I'm heading to South FL in April and Europe this summer. Never traveled with an extra watch. Usually just wear my exp II. But I want to wear my TT DJ41 at night when we go out. I want to carry my DJ in my backpack on the plane. What do you folks use to put a single watch in?

I use an Oakley vault which isn't made any more but casebudi makes the same thing on Amazon minus the logo. Small round black zippered case with soft lining inside.

Myself often used a clean thick wool sock.

I use a Breitling service pouch.

Sent from my iphone 10 using craptalk which randomly and rather annoyingly rotates my pictures the wrong way around.

My AD gave me a few of the clear plastic coffins with the Styrofoam lining. I use one of those in my carry-on. I wear my good watch, and put my beater Suunto D9 in the plastic case.

Another vote for Casebudi/Oakley (cant get the Oakleys anymore, but casebudi is the same)

Small, light, cheap, good protection.

Buy the small size.

I shipped mine to the RSC in a plastic Rolex watch coffin and that never came back.

To the OP. I don't take a second watch on vacation. Unless the hotel has a safe deposit box, usually means the watch is left in the room. Not good.

If you must, Casebudi is a great choice.

Casebudi. I have a few of these - I cycle to work every day and sonny watch travels safe in a casebudi in my backpack. I also keep one in my gym bag.

They're lightweight, robust, soft interior (no scratching), compact and cheap on Amazon. Can't go wrong IMO.

I usually take two watches with me whenever I travel. One of the wrist and the other in a case budi that I store in whatever bag I'm using as a carry on.

Traveling with an extra watch

The Oakley cases - when available - were specifically called watch *storage* cases. Not travel cases.

That said, if you wrap the watch in cloth to keep it from moving about in the case...and don't exert too much pressure on it, you might be OK.

If you really want to be safe...you'd want a case with padding built in - think Pelican on a smaller scale. Watch rolls are the worst as the sides of the watches run against each other.

Funny. I usually travel with one or two extra watches (I'm in SoFL right now with the GMT I'm wearing now, an Omega X-33, and a Seiko PC) which I just throw in my carry-on without a second thought.

I use the green suede Rolex travel pouch...works great.

I don't recommend taking more than one watch on a trip, however.

With the casebudi, does the watch stay firmly in place or does the band tend to fold in and slop around?

The watch stays in place as the centre of the case is contoured which prevents the bracelet from colliding with itself.

Also, someone earlier implied that the cases are soft and therefore only good for storage. I can't comment on what they were designed for but I can say that the casebudi cases are reasonably solid. I wouldn't drive over one but I feel pretty relaxed about throwing one in my luggage.

My casebudi should be arriving from amazon today, thanks to TRF. I found out about it while searching for travel case threads. It isn't something I would've bought based on the amazon page alone so thanks TRF ;)
