5167 or FP Journe Chronometre Bleu?

I have a 5712A, no date Sub and expect to add a white DaytonaC soon. Looking to add a 4th piece and deciding between Chronomtre Bleu and 5167A. Price is close enough that it isn’t a big factor, although 5167 is cheaper. I am led to believe I could get either watch from AD within a few months.

I like both watches a lot, but probably can only afford to add one at this time.

Thoughts on which one to choose considering the other watches in my collection?

normally i would say FPJ, i love that watch. However with a 5712 already i would go for the 5167. You need something on rubber... or you could also go for the 5164

I got bored with the journe relatively quickly and moved on. Beautiful watch, but seems they are often flipped

FJP is so much more interesting. The entire movement is made out of solid gold. I like the 5167......but i'm not sure if I love it...or the fact that it's hard to get that makes me want it even more. The FJP....definitely a winner for me.

FPJ CB tough to beat and one of nicest watches for the money IMHO.

You have 2 sporty watches in the 12 and 500c. I think adding a dress watch to your collection will make it more complete. As a dress watch, the FPJ CB is excellent.

I would go for 5167a.

Even though I don't have my CB in hand yet, I would say CB hands down as well. 5167 is a fantastic piece, but you already have a 5712. I'd go for some more variety - the CB is a real stunner and just feels more special than the 5167.

omg..im going thru EXACT same thing. minor difference, already have the CB (and 5712, like u!) and considering moving that out for the 67R.

the CB undoubtedly a great piece. but i think it took awhile to come to realization that i prefer sport style pieces that can double duty as dress.
CB can certainly be worn casually, especially with so many strap color options. however i think I'm hankering for another patek into the collection, and preferably in rose gold.

I think you should buy the 64 and CB, however don't wait too long on the 64 for as high as the price is for what it is, it is still relatively cheap, and prices are really only going one way.

It’s nice, but it’s not really a dress watch – more a casual wearer for those who prefer straps instead of bracelets.
They do a Pt and RG bracelet, but I’d like to see them stretch themselves by offering a Tantalum one for the CB.

If we follow your notion of going for a dress(ier) type watch, and manually wound, then one very obvious option should be the Mosers, and if the OP still fancied something bordering more on the sporty side, then there’s the Moser Pioneer in steel, on rubber.
Won’t be as svelte as the 5167, nor with as much lume, but at least there’s no “supply shortage” to delay when he can have one, as well as a blue dial without the expense and weight of WG.

Moser RG is a fantastic crossover piece.

I much prefer the CB to the Moser and I prefer the watch to be on the more casual side of dressy. I find my 5712 is plenty dressy for most occasions, so the CB would primarily be used with business attire or on the weekend when I want something dressier than my Rolex, but different than my 5712. The 5167 could do this too, but I think it may not be dressy enough to wear to work, etc., or at least not as well suited for that purpose as the CB would be.

I prefer the 5167. I don't care for the Journe bleu. And I definitely don't care for Journe repair/service costs! I've had a couple Journe Octas before, and had problems with both. Unfortunately one was out of warranty when the date went 29, 30, 31, 32, 33... (happened to both watches)

I may’ve oversold the Mosers as dressy watches – they’re certainly capable of doing smart casual too.
Just in case you need a bit of further encouragement to look at them again or a bit more thoroughly, have a looksee.
If not, then I’ve no doubt you’ll be chuffed to bits with the Chonometre Bleu.

Not much of a surprise, given how well thought of Journe’s watches are, second only to Lange & Sohne, probably.
Residuals on the Chronometre Bleu have firmed a fair bit over the past 2 years-ish, so, as the 5167 is a bit of a known quantity with you already owning the 5712, then you shouldn’t have much concern by trying the Journe for 3-6 months, before deciding if it stays or gets replaced by the Aquanaut – assuming you’re definitely a closed mind when it comes to the Moser Pioneer.

that is a great looking watch. Its probably enough of a crossover into the casual side that i would really consider that.

How often do people wear a 5167 in a true dress-watch setting as in with a suit or sport coat?

My biggest hang up on the 5167 is I don’t know if I would ever wear it with dressier attire whereas I would with the CB.
