5740 release?

When does the 5740 land? I have not seen anyone with it yet and was wondering when it was coming? It should be soon...no?

Initially I was told September. Recently I was informed it has been delayed. Not sure how long the delay will be.

Ironic these watch companies always seem to run late with deliveries.

they must have something really great for SIHH 2019 otherwise they should have just held off and announced it then.

This piece will obviously be in very high demand. Any thoughts on secondary market premium, especially given asking prices I'm seeing for Advanced Research Aquanaut?

I think 50%, maybe more for the first ones.

As with many new watch releases, demand should be strong initially with premium secondary market prices. However since this is not a LE watch, once supply catches up to demand, pricing will stabilize. This may take a few years depending on how quickly or slowly Patek release these watches to ADs.

My impression is that the demand for non-LE $100k+ watches are not the same as watches in the under $50K price range (e.g. 5711/1A, 5712/1A, 5726/1A). But we shall see how long the Nautilus craze continues and if it will extend to watches in this price range.

But the steel version obviously would not have the blue dial.

I know all Patek dealers are not getting one. When I hear some large collectors cannot even get one, I begin to think this might be a LE.

I hope you are right. I very much like the 5740, but fear we have heard the story before of demand for the lower priced/lower margin steel watches far exceeding supply and of the supply of the high priced complications exceeding demand over time. And this time the msrp is so high that it makes me wonder what the plan is and what the market will look like 2-3 years out... but one needs to buy this for pure personal enjoyment of course like any other modern watch so...

Yeah one would think. Perhaps blue/grey and white like they have done with other steel. It is probably 5 years out anyway!

After my 5711, I really need to get another Nautilus.

This one is so stunning. Probably mission impossible but I am going to knock on a few doors in the hope that one opens....

The plan might be to start pricing steel much closer to the gold pricing, making the jump to gold much more appealing.

I have a friend in NYC who stopped in to Tourneau on 57th. The woman took out a 5740g from the safe and showed it to my friend. It was, of course, pre-sold. This was a week ago. Does this sound wrong? That's what he told me. He has a very Pateks and a Datograph, but I don't think he's on here or is an active watch enthusiast.

It sounds wrong. My understanding is delivery is delayed and have yet to hear if anyone receiving one. Best

I imagine you're right. But I won't tell him that. He seems very sure he knows what he saw.
