Steel Stain
Hello -- curious if anyone knows the cause of these stains? Is it a stain? In the pictures, it looks darker -- in real life, it's less noticeable but looks like a layer of shine on the polish. Like oily.
I've tried Dawn and Wristclean with toothbrush + warm water. Doesn't take it off. Unsure where/what got on it -- thanks! |

oils from your fingers. just use a very soft brush, warm water and tiny bit of soap and it'll look new

I've tried that a few times to no avail. Both with Dawn and the Wristclean solution. :(

Your photo doesn't show what you asked about. Where are the stains on the watch?

Boutique. Definitely wasn't there when I first got the watch. Wore on a recent trip to Japan and I think I noticed it after.

Thanks for marking up the photos.
What I believe I see is something in the "valleys" of the grain in the brushed metal. It could be a hair product, a skin product, or an oily residue like sebum. Due to the location, a DIY steam stream isn't safe unless you have a lot of experience. I'd ask the AD to remedy - when I've had this on brushed bracelets, I use a steam bullet with fine nozzle. A bit confused why you think it’s a stain and not from the striations of the polish?
All ROs ive seen upon very close inspection have some vertical graining that is a bit more pronounced than the general set. It probably has to do with the hand polishing. I assume you mean something else and think it’s a stain for a particular reason EDIT: are you talking about the darker spots? Can see it more clearly in the first picture.

I think stain might be the wrong word. Or too strong of a word.
Yup -- the I'm referring to the darker spots that I marked up. It looks like looks like a layer of shine on the otherwise brushed case/bracelet. Like it would be oil from your fingers/etc. Stuff that you'd think would wipe off or wash off with soap. @77T - that's interesting. Hadn't concerned stuff seeping into the valley of the grain. |

AP corporate customer service is pretty responsive. I’d try reaching out to them and showing them photos, also reaching out to the local boutique.

Dhubby: Use the quote button not the red triangle if you want to respond to someone's post. You just 'reported' 77T instead of thanking him.
