Rolex 16528 U7 luminova dial?

Hi all,
Is a U7 16528 acceptable to have a luminova dial? Or only U9 is acceptable to have luminova dials?

thanks

Sorry I may have misunderstood your question but I think you are asking if a Rolex with a serial number starting U7***** could have a luminova dial.

If so the answer is yes, I have a 16710 with a U781 serial number that has a luminova dial. The earliest luminova dials on U and A serial's (possibly some T's as well with some of those still marked T>25) are marked SWISS at 6 O'Clock not Swiss Made

Thanks for the replies. My 16528 U7 has a luminova dial with Swiss Made at 6'o clock. Is that acceptable?

Yep. Very late Us, all As and Ps. I've seen some late SS Us (e.g U8) with a tritium dial. need to research for gold 165XX U-series for the luminova dial.

Does it say T SWISS MADE T or just SWISS MADE

And anyone knows if hands of 16528 diamond should have lume? I saw some examples online with hands that do not have lume.

As these were not made in anywhere near the same quantities as steel references, it would be conceivable for a case stamped with a U serial number to have waited a while and in this transition period from tritium to luminova, then been paired with a luminova dial.

If you post some close up photo's of the dial, hands, case, bracelet clasp numbers and a lume shot, it would help those more knowledgeable than I.

The dial is just A series type of dial.

The first luminova Rolex dials were just marked "Swiss." I have a U-serial 16700 GMT with only "Swiss" on the dial.

I believe Daytona 16520s are different. Went straight from T Swiss T to Swiss Made. Never saw a “Swiss” dial.

For me, a U serial is to early for a SWISS MADE dial marking.

very true for most models like the 16710.

16520 U-serials had them though. very late in the U-serial run though. or some reason. they skipped the "Swiss" dials although from my research for the Zenith Daytona.

Yes - IMO the dial didn’t have space below the 6 o’clock half index to imprint SWISS. Patrizzi&Co reference books note this:
“Around 1998/1999, when Rolex definitively adopted SuperLuminova, the inscription “SWISS MADE” replaces “ T SWISS MADE T” at the side of the 6”
