Vintage 1503 Real or Fake

I have the opportunity to purchase this 1503. It is coming from someone without a lot of knowledge on Rolex and didn't even know the ref number.

Something strikes me as odd about the dial. The way "ROLEX" is written below the coronet. The Coronet itself looks painted on. Also the letters at the bottom look a little wide (kerning). Even the word "Date"
The endlinks on the back of the case aren't shaped like typical Rolex end links.

BUT I am not well versed in 1500s enough to make the decision on my own.

Anyone out there who can shed some light on this.. real or fake?

Thoughts?
