Window Shopping

I took a trip today to my local AD to window shop. I was not expecting to see much based off of what I have read on this forum. I saw mostly DJs and 3 different DDs (my fav watch that I am saving for) and other models that I did not know what they were. I just started getting into Rolex the last few months. But what through me off was I saw a SS Daytona in the display case. Wow! I was shocked and there was no sign saying "display only". I am not sure if it is reserved (did not ask) but I do not think it would be since it was in the case. Anyway great visit and I can't wait to go back when I am done saving for my DD.

Because I am not interested in SS models. I like PM references.

Knowing that the presence of a SS Daytona shocked you, and knowing the current market scenario, why wouldn’t you take a few more steps into the shop and ask? Now people gona say what not

I'm a doubter. There are white gold Daytonas that might be in the case, no US dealer would put a random 116500 out for first come/first serve.

It very well could be. I just assumed it was SS but don’t know 100% for sure. However, I do know it was a Daytona.

My thoughts as well. Would put money on a bet it would have been a PM, not SS.

And IF it was a SS, who wouldn't if one had the means run into the store and buy it immediately for no other reason than to sell it for a very nice gain. Regardless of ones income, why wouldn't anyone like a free $8-10k?

Pretty simple... did it have a ceramic bezel with a bracelet or not?

You spent the time to post on the forums but no time to take a pic or quickly go in and ask?

I did not ask because I’m not personally interested in SS models. It is probably a PM Daytona.

Could be PM or could be a used SS.

I am admitting it right now. If I see a new SS Daytona in an AD window for sale at retail, I am flipping that immediately. Hate if you want but there is no doubt.

Most likely WG (116509) with black diamond dial. Looks very like SS to the untrained eye.

One of the Mayors in Florida has had one for years and I visit it every time I am in Florida. Seemly daily people ask if it’s a steel one. It must be a fair old age now

There is absolutely zero way an unsold 116500 is sitting in a window.

Window Shopping

If it was stainless it was probably pre-Owned and available for grey market prices. Wouldn’t be the first AD I’ve seen do this.
