Buying a Sports Model Through American Express Centurion Concierge
Has anyone ever obtained to “hard to get” sports model using the concierge service through the Amex Centurion card? A friend I know just got this card and the perks that come with it are crazy. I called to get a reservation at a very popular restaurant and the person on the phone laughed and said to get a table you need to book a month in advance. My friend called the centurion concierge and we had a large table that same evening at 8:30. I was very surprised and did some reading on the services and the perks Amex offers and was amazed. I mentioned to my friend that I am on a “waiting list” for a Daytona Ceramic and it will probably be years before I get the call. My friend said they could try the concierge if I wanted. I am curious if anyone has had an experience getting a watch through the concierge service Amex offers with the black card, especially a hard to obtain piece like a ceramic Daytona or SkyD Blue.

With tangible goods or tickets, you usually provide a budget and they work around it. I’ve used it for tickets but they weren’t at face value. You could tell them you’re looking for the watch and msrp and they’ll come back to you end of day saying these are the available options and price list. I find it a lot more efficient to just do most things myself but they can be very helpful with dinner reservations. Obviously not all places apply. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Since most credit cards waive fees, the USD10K for a black card is basically to have the concierge at your beck and call?
Or in effect, it’s the membership payment for the Delta Air program? https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnnyj...k-card-review/ |

Someone posted about this once. I think the conclusion was that the service did not help.

Try it. I would imagine getting dinner reservations would be different than trying to get inventory that has been allocated already.

Restaurants can be easier due to a pre-reserves table or agreement with the restaurant. I’ve tried Platinum concierge and typically with goods they’ll come back with a list of options and prices. I’ve tried tickets and usually they’re over face value if already sold out.
Centurion has more pull but I’d imagine it’s the same here.

I've tried this. It doesn't work with the Platinum. Probably wouldn't work with a Centurion, but can't say for sure.
It's a great card for dinner reservations and show tickets, although they have slowly been losing affiliates like the Golden State Warriors. I've also tried to get Pappy Van Winkle from the concierge and they directed me to the resale market. Figured it was worth a shot! |

The concierge is useless. Good luck, but temper your expectations.

Yep...my experience is as such:
1. Good for “hot” restaurants 2. Good when the budget js clear and you simply have/want to delegate to someone else 3. Be prepared to overpay for time savings I highly doubt the concierge would be useful in this context, but it cannot hurt to try Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I used tried to use the service before.
They can source you the wanted goods through grey dealers with grey prices (hermes, rolex) and you pay with Amex, so they earn the percentage and you will be covered for insurance to be delivered safe at your home. Or if you insists going AD. They source it for you; you will get the answer you can buy the daytona at retail but you also have to buy another watch at retailprice which is not in the top 20 of most wanted watches. |

I've wondered the same thing. I haven't had luck with the platinum concierge thing to obtain hard to find items, I'd think the same to be true for hard to find Rolex models.

They’ll likely come back with a grey market watch for you.

Sadly the AMEX card is not what it was 25 years ago....back then if you had a gold card you were treated well. I wonder if these "black" or metal visa cards could get you one? |
