Watch and shoes.

I grew up with my dad always telling me that you can tell a lot about a man before he opens his mouth by looking at his watch and shoes. So I have literally done that for as long as I can remember. When I'm out in public I will always be checking watches and shoes. And when I meet someone that has no watch on and not kept up shoes I draw my own conclusions about him pretty quickly.

I am sure I'm in the right place with everyone here. I'm just wondering how many if any check watch and shoes.

I think that is a pretty poor way to judge people. A good way to miss out on some quality people if you ask me.

In 2016, I wouldn't assume anything if I saw someone not wearing a watch. Today even I didn't wear one.

I love watches and shoes too, but never judge someone based on those two things. Some of the best people I've ever met look pretty rough at first sight, and some of the worse I've ever met were dressed to the nines.

I mean no disrespect when I tell you there are plenty of times when you would have drawn some amazingly poor conclusions about myself then, not to mention some of the nicest and wealthiest people I've met and done business with. Don't presume to Judge people by such silly standards, or you will give no value to people like Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, and a lot of value to people whom are either moraliy corrupt, highly in debt, or both!

I didn't exactly mean I judged someone. I am the last person to judge a book by its cover. I have a big beard and I'm full of tattoos. So I really just meant it from a thing I do in my mind. I didn't mean it any other way than that.

I do notice, but don't put much weight on the first impression.

That's all I meant really. It's weird but if it's a digital watch(which I wear a lot too) and a certain type of shoes I have a pretty good idea this guy enjoys outdoor activities. That's just a example. I didn't mean to judge someone's character. I think it came out that way. Not what I meant.

My mother used to say the same thing, I don't think it applies much in the modern day, plus if someone lowers their eyes so far it's pretty obvious what they are attempting to do and it just makes them look superficial and judgemental. In this modern era we are trying to get rid of all the divisive "isms", and trying to judge people on the content of their characters.

I didn't mean judge the persons character. It's hard to explain. I didn't mean it in a bad way. Like I said I'm the last person that can judge a book by its cover considering I get judged a lot before I open my mouth and 10 times out of 10 they came to the wrong conclusion about me.

LOL...I thought for a second and tried to apply this thought process of shoes and watches to people like Floyd Mayweather and Kanye West.
Great shoes.
Great watches.
Shall we line up the next Nobel Prize?

That's actually not a bad example. They both wear flashy watches and shoes. So that to me says something. Not about their character really. But just a little about their personalities.

Must admit, I was always told you can tell something about someone by their shoes. Myself nor my kids never go out of the house without their shoes being cleaned ... even though I have to do it!! Never understood how people can leave the house with dirty shoes?...

This is it. Right here.

I've got friends I trust with my life and I have. They aren't much to look at upon first inspection.

Again. I didn't mean it in a judge mental way. I meant it as I can tell a little about their personality.

Read your original post. You are even "sure" that everyone is as judgmental as you. Quit back pedaling and own up to your post.

I think you made your point and I think you could have expressed it in a better way. Not as if we all haven't made our own mistakes.

Thank you. I realize the way a stated it came out wrong. I don't back pedal in things I say. But in this situation I really should have re read before I posted it.

Hahaha. I wear boots a lot too. But looking at your choice in watch and shoes/boots I get the impression you are a person of style and taste and you prefer the finer things in life. So on those grounds I have a general idea of the type of person you are. That's all I really meant. Right or wrong that's how I deal with people. I have done a lot of research into reading people and the way they carry themselves and the choice in clothing and jewelry tells you something.

No, with all do respect, you can't.

Pretty shallow and materialistic way of reading people. I've traveled to many places the world over and this absolutely would mean so many great people I've met along the way and helped me at airports or lost in a foreign country were all telling me something....I don't know negative, bad....
Thank goodness I didn't follow this rational, because I would have missed out on some great friendships.
