Bad dial reprinting; anyone have success removing poorly redialed printing?

I have an old Tudor and it has what looks like an original dial and track, but awful reprinted text. I’ve always wondered if anyone has successfully had someone try to clean the surface to reveal some of the original printing. I know that it was prob a clapped out dial but I would love to try removing some of the paint to see what is underneath. It’s not gilt

That's interesting that they could have reprinted just the text without doing the whole dial. I wonder how they did that. It seems that they would have had to paint over the old text with a background color, and I would have thought it would be hard to match the old background color and texture. Can you see an area that looks like the old dial was painted over?

I have to agree that it’s not easy to reprint just the center of a dial - it’s harder than doing the entire dial.

Makes no sense for whomever did it.

I don’t know of any solvent to remove just the bad printing without affecting the dial paint underneath it.
