Moving soon to a neighborhood where the HOA does ALL lawn maintenance... cannot wait. Once a week, there will be five hours of chaos, and the rest of the week will be silent.

As it is... Saturday and Sunday, all neighbors take their shift. One guy starts at 7:30 Saturday, one at 9:30, one at 11:30, etc., until sundown. Repeats on Sunday.

Head to the golf course, play, eat, have a few drinks, go home and they will be finished!

I was running the lawnmower around 945 am today. I was thinking I’m a real prick for doing this. Only 10 min job max as I was doing the ditch where my automower dare not venture.

When you have a 1 year old 9 am is like noon

Spoke to my neighbor and had to ask why today was a good day to wash his driveway for 5hrs. He told me he wanted it cleaned of dust. I told him it seemed like a waste of water. He shrugged. Said he pays for it.

When we run out of water, I won’t shed a tear for guys like him.

I usually power wash the cars, backyard, driveway and gutters on the weekend...but I have a cover for my pool and drought tolerant landscape in SoCal so I don’t waste water. I usually play music on the Sonance so the neighbors can’t hear the power washer or leaf blower.

I guess I don't mind the "power-washers" and the "blower-vacs" so much (as long as they don't blow all their 5h1t into the street - blow it into your yard DH!)
What annoys me is the morons who think it is fun to rev a motorbike for several hours - "I'm tuning it". You haven't got the intelligence to "tune" anything - you are just a moron.

What CJ failed to explain to everyone is the power-washing was a necessary operation, to clean up all the excess paint he splattered over the entire property from his fence-panting debacle.

Don't feel bad, 9:45 on a Saturday is perfectly acceptable.

Here are the rules for yard noises:
Weekdays ~ After 8:00
Sat ~ After 9:00
Sunday and Major Holidays ~ After 10:00

Owners of parking dogs feel it's fine anytime because 'that's what dogs do'

Very reasonable hours. Still isn’t it best to hire someone to do it for you during the week?

I used to be exactly like that when I was young. In fact I was until I got old.

Now at 58, we bought a new house in a new neighborhood with an HOA and I wouldn’t consider it any other way!!

I seem to be going the opposite way. The older I get, the more I resist anyone trying to tell me how I can live my life.

For a little while, I had some real asshat neighbors that were renting the house next to mine when I lived at Lake Tahoe.

For some reason, I didn't feel bad at all when I started the snowblower at 0230 hours to remove the two feet of snow that fell during my shift.

What people don't take into consideration are those us who work graveyard. Those are terrible hours... unless the they are P.M.

Are you sure you know how an ecosystem functions... no one is EVER running out of water on this earth. We happen to live on a world where the three fifths of the surface is covered in H2O.

water get used, it evaporates into the atmosphere where it collects and drops back to earth... round and round she goes.

The only thing that will rid us of our liquid (or frozen) grave will be the solar radiation/winds... but no one would EVER be so dumb to think that could possibly control that... or do they.

My functioning ‘ecosystem’ is the one that affects my immediate community, property taxes, infrastructure projects, and shared community needs. Or, the ecosystem overlords that send out water restriction and noise restriction fines.

But thanks for assuming my comment was a broader worldwide one.

People who lived around Aral Sea would love to read your theory. The North Aral Sea is recovering today but we can still call it a huge disaster.
