1950's Rolex 18k Pre-Daytona...one of the most complicated watch created at that time

Here is a Triple calendar Pre-Daytona in which I have the honor to revive.

This pre-Daytona was passed down from my clients Grandfather which was has been apart of the family for the last 70 years. At that time, Grandfather sent it to a watchmaker in Egypt who was going to "rob Peter to pay Paul" and use parts of the movement for another movement he had.

When I received the watch, I noticed how many parts were really missing on this Valjoux 72C and was able to source the correct parts.

Time to put it back together and see how it turns out.

Phillip - have you had the chance to complete the reassembly and any pictures?

It’s a fantastic timepiece...

How did it function? Were the parts removed and put back together like that or was something cheaper/similar used?

The watch was not functioning and the parts removed were not replaced. I am still currently working on this watch and up until 5 days ago, was still finding missing parts.

So the owner got the watch back, not working and the guy who repaired it acted stupid? Would have loved to see that...

Happy that the missing FEDEX package was found - hope it wasn’t this project because we’d love to see photos if it is done or nearly so...

No, thanks goodness it was not. I am still working on this Daytona as an older watchmaker stripped it for parts. Also, there is incredible wear in certain places where I am having to make several parts for it to function.
