A toothpick works, or a paper clip, or anything rigid with a smaller diameter than the lug hole.

Thanks. I ended up using a dental pick. Worked like a charm. Now I need to get some Gold Spring Bars, but the kicker is since the case is a scalloped custom finish, it covers the lug holes on all 4 sides so I need to get different pins than your standard GMT ones. I’m going to need pins that I can remove from the back side of the band rather than the sides of the band and or lugs. Till then I will not be wearing the watch as I don’t want to further damage the lugs as they have already taken a beaten from being warm by its last owner with stainless steel.
Any help from anyone in regards to 18k pins would be much appreciated.
See here:

Thanks
John

Nice!! Love the red. Can’t find red anywhere nowadays. You could get creative with some straps also. Enjoy!

I got 18k yellow-gold spring bars from my Rolex AD for my Day-Date 1802. These would be perfect for your 20 mm lug width, and have grooves for removal from the back without external lug holes.

Think I paid around 200 bucks for the pair. Call your AD!

It was a very nice watch originally, but for me, case is definitely ruined with this custom "scalloping".

If you like the custom work, that is what matters. It is not for me, but the watch is not mine is it. Enjoy it buddy.

Custom engraved cases were common back during that period as artisans created these engraved watches and bracelets. One has to look no further than the Rolex "bark" bezels and bracelets found on the old Day-Dates during the same time period.

While these custom watches might not be for everyone, one can only appreciate the time and work that went into crafting one.

I am getting the custom Bracelet as well that goes with this piece. A customized jubilee. It’s on its way and be sure to post an update.

Thanks

Now THIS I want to see. I'm on the fence about the casework (I like engraving but it's subjective according to the style) but on a customized Jubilee I bet the watch as a whole will be a humdinger. Looking forward to it!

Yeah not for me, I think it would bother me after the honeymoon period wore off.

Just received the Band and it really compliments the watch. It is the original band that was customized at the same time the case was. Really cool.
Thanks to Marco for the Heads up.

WOW!! Really looks great! Love that insert too! How did you get the bracelet and why was it being sold separate?

The original owner reached out with the bracelet. Not sure why they didnt offer it along with the watch originally.
I planned On getting a riveted oyster but am happy with the band.
