Vintage Rolex running fast?

Hello, I just picked up a 1957 Speedking Cal. 1210 and had a quick question.

Yesterday the watch was running about a minute fast and today the watch is running about 4 min fast. I tried laying the watch sideways (crown facing up) going to bed last night but it seems like it didn't do the trick.

I was informed the watch was recently serviced so I just wanted some feedback for those who owned vintage Rolex's if this sounds normal for its age or if I need to get this re-serviced.

Any feedback would be appreciated - thank you!

Check to see if your watch is magnetized. It happened to one of mine vintage Rolex. Its an easy fix before having to shell out few hundred for servicing

Use a small hammer

Just kidding. Hopefully something with the hairspring can be sorted out.

I use the back side of a toothbrush and banged it on the rear case That's all it took.

Use Lepsi app to check magnetism first

Would you say its more of a light smack? or a strong hit?
I'm terrified doing this but will do if the demagnetize doesn't solve the problem.

Try a light smack, first. I had to smack mine a few times fairly hard. But not hard enough to dent the case. I was terrified too. I hope the demagnetizer does it.

Using the Lepsi app, I'm aware that the watch is magnetized and the demagnetizer is coming tomorrow so we shall see if it does the fix.

However, today the watch is running 10 minutes slow (yesterday it was running 5 minutes fast) so I'm wondering if this isn't a magnetized problem at this point?

Does the watch run both fast and slow when it is magnetized?

The only time I've had a watch (NOT Rolex) that had the characteristics of sometimes running fast and sometimes slow, the diagnosis WAS that it was magnetized. I got rid of it soon after de-magnetization, so I can't comment fully if the diagnosis was correct. Hope that helps.

General question about demagnetization:

How often do you have to get your watch demagnetized knowing it was once magnetized? Does it get magnetized again often?
