Submariner - laser weld or polish?
Hi all.
I managed to get a nice ding on my submariner in the last few days. Admittedly I don’t even know how it happened! Generally I don’t mind scratches etc but this one is a little annoying and is certainly catching my eye when I check the time. That leads me to querying what might be the best solution to remedy this. Laser welding isn’t particularly readily available where I live but I’m not sure if a polish will suffice. Watch isn’t due a service as is only 3 years old and keeping good time. Thanks https://ibb.co/crS6LyW https://ibb.co/6D1CWJc https://ibb.co/sC0HT7G https://ibb.co/sJVZ95h |

Thanks. Presumably RSC in Europe don’t do laser welding and would need to go to a specialist?

There are some RSC centers in Europe that do laser welding, Bas @SearChart can probably help you as he’s in Europe Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Submariner - laser weld or polish?
I don't think it's that bad. I wouldn't subject the whole watch to a polish over it.
A light brush of that lug could take the twinkle out of it.

I'd live with it, but if I had no choice, laser weld. Polishing that out will significantly deform the lug.

I’d do absolutely nothing to that other than just wear. It’s just character you’ve added.
If it’s sharp then go with Eepro’s advice, just something to take the edge off it a touch. |

Odds are that won’t be the last knock it takes. I had a similar scrape along the top right lug of my Explorer 39mm. It bothered me for a bit, but eventually I forgot it was even there. The only reason I’d consider a laser weld is if you are considering moving it on and concerned about resale value.

Just let it alone. The watch looks great still. When service time comes, get it polished - that will make it look nearly brand new.

That's right in a spot where you will constantly notice it. I would have said wait till you need service, but this most likely would bother me too so I say get it welded.

I’d leave as it is. It’s a sub, meant to be worn and banged up a little

Everything fades my my friend, get over it. Do you want a watch, or are you curating some rare piece of art in a museum?
