First time Rolex owner here in Austin, TX
Hey y’all,
My name is Kyle, 30, construction manager for a new home builder. I’ve been collecting watches now for about 5 years and I’ve finally graduated to Rolex after about 30 entry level Swiss and micro brands. I’ve sold off all but a few at this point since I acquired my Rolex. I used to think I wanted a watch box full of timepieces to choose from. And while that does seem nice at times, it simply isn’t practical for me, and I secretly envy people who own just one watch and that’s the watch they have for years and years. It becomes a sort of companion, an item to share experiences and memories with. They can take on a personality and become human in more ways than one. I know I am preaching to the choir so let me just right in now: I sold 2 Bremont’s and 2 Omega’s in order to fully find this watch and I am very happy with my decision. So, without further ado, here is my Explorer 2 16570 (3186). Specs: M series 2007 production SEL’s no holes case 3186 movement engraved rehaut Bought from Swiss Watch Expo in Atlanta, GA. Current watches: Bremont Alt1-p Tag Heuer Link Chronograph (ct1111 “Bourne”) Panerai PAM 091 “After the Sunset” Rolex Explorer 2 (16570) I wasn’t sure if I wanted a more modern/super case Rolex or a 5 digit reference. I can say now that I am in love with the 5 digit oyster case sport models for the size, chamfers, and wearability. I am also a sucker for dive watches, as my love for this hobby, like many others, was born from being a James Bond fan. Needless to say, one of the Omegas I sold was a Seamaster Pro “Brosnan” Bond watch. That being said, for the money, I could have bought a 16610 Submariner or a 16600 Sea-Dweller. I was close several times to pulling the trigger on one of these as many great examples are available. And I believe I will add a 16600 to my collection at some point. It’s intoxicating to me. But I chose the explorer 2 because of the movement mostly, and the dual time zone functionality. Thank you for reading this far and letting me ramble and introduce myself. Cheers! |

Welcome and congrats on a great watch, that was my first Rolex as well.
I feel the same way about having one watch, easier said than done though! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
