Would you pay 7k for this submariner...

1986 reference 16800 no box or papers... Is this considered tropical just curious... Dial turned flat and has a brown tint... The insert also turned color...Would you pay 7k... I noticed the bracelet is not correct Its a VB code and end links 501 so looks to me the bracelet from 1977 reference 1680

Watch is just ok... daylight photos are better than store light. Obviously the endlinks need a tweak. Dial and hand set are attractive. Case has some less than perfect lug polishing previously.

No I wouldn't. Dials like that are ticking time bombs to me. Who knows what another 20 years will do. Those early gloss dials had all sorts of issues. The case isn't anything spectacular either and as you pointed out, replaced bracelet with the wrong end links.

The photos are hard for me to properly judge the dial and condition but my initial instinct is that the dial is faded and might even have a tropical appearance - it's hard to say for sure. With that said, there are too many issues for me besides the dial which include the poor case condition, the scratched up bezel insert, mismatched bracelet and the dial of course.

It wouldn't be anything that I would fill the void in my collection with.

No, it looks like it’s being thrown together by an amateur watchmaker.
The Crystal looks aftermarket, or the loupe has been glued on with bison kit.
The dial looks like it has been handled by someone who just did an oil change on a Volkswagen. End pieces of the bracelet are dangling around....
The case has been polished by a metalworker who is working in the boat building industry or something.
Walk away from this!
