Bluesy
Have a chance to get a brand new Bluesy from AD but I really want the hulk (she would put me further up on the list). How much $$ do you think I would lose in a year on the bluesy?

Honestly nobody knows but if the past is any indicator you shouldn't lose much at all assuming the condition is fine. But I'm not about to play that game and buy something I don't want to have a chance to get something I do.

You shouldn’t be talking that kind of money for a watch you don’t want.
While the Hulk is a good looking watch, it is not a Bluesy. I am biased I guess. I had both in front of me available for purchase and went with the Bluesy without much thought. Have never looked back.

If your paying msrp plus tax, it'll probably lose a couple grand short term.
That said, a hulk at grey prices is a poorer choice vs the bluesy at msrp. and you "may" still be able to save a little on the TT sub if you shop around. I know DavidSW has had a "new" one (still stickered) on his website for 13ish for a while. Look at a few of the trusted sellers here, I'm sure a 116613lb can be had for close to what a new Hulk goes for (gray). Better yet, buy whatever watch your going to keep and you don't have to worry about it. Admittedly I'm not a huge fan of the Hulk, and def wouldn't pay a premium over a black sub for one. |

The bluesy is the better watch at purchase price...
Arguably at retail it's a better watch.. the bluesy is amazing in the flesh However the hulk is a result of this crazy market. You would be better off buying the hulk at grey price. Yes you would not get it at retail however you will not lose any money as it's what it sells for on the used market and you will not be lumbered with a watch you don't like even. Loss wise on the bluesy..you would easy beat the loss with the value of the Hulk if and when you leave the shop with it ...the Hulk could be superceeded next year in which case you will never get one as has happened with the Batman. So your choice Bluesy at retail then hulk make money on the 2. Bluesy then hulk superceeded..lose small amount on resale Hulk grey...it's what it's worth A wise man would say the hulk boat has sailed ..get the next hot watch whatever that may be who knows |

OP: I was in the exact same boat as you a little over a year ago. I bought the Hulk first, at an AD, knowing it would be a long time before it came around again. I then bought the Bluesy less than two months later. The Bluesy is a watch I have loved since I was a kid because my dad wore an older DJ with the blue/YG color scheme. Once I picked up the Bluesy, I rotated the two daily for a couple of months. I never really warmed to the Hulk, yet was - and still am - in love with the Bluesy. I sold the Hulk shortly thereafter for $1K over retail and haven't missed it one iota. It's a beautiful watch, but I just had no need for two Subs, so I took the proceeds from the Hulk and bought a Polar Exp II and have never regretted my decision.

Buy the bluesy, keep it in the safe, when the Hulk is offered, sell the Bluesy.
You won't be losing much on the bluesy if you get it at retail. Consider that as your "premium". |

I have both pieces. At retail, Bluesy is a very safe bet. If and when a Hulk is then offered to you by your AD and you can't afford to add that without selling the Bluesy, you will be able to sell the Bluesy for a sum (which even has carried a small loss) will more than pay for the Hulk at retail. So it seems to me that you will be keeping all options open, and preserving a good relationship with the AD, by taking the Bluesy?
That said, I am an enabler and I am not sure I ever advise someone to not buy..

He can save up after the bluesy purchase. He should have more than enough for the Hulk when it comes/arrives. Only problem is resisting to wear the bluesy now that it is in his possession. |

I didn’t even want a Bluesy. I wanted one of the new GMTs or the two tone one.
Then she texted me and said she had a Bluesy if I was interested. I am convinced they just got a shipment which included some SS sports, but just didn’t want to sell to me. Maybe yet, or maybe never. I don’t know, she has never promised me anything other than she will try her best to get me what I want. I can live with that, it’s my choice. We always have a choice. So I go down and take a look at the Bluesy. I had a million misgivings about the watch and considered it one I would never ever own because of my own prejudice towards it. At the AD though, something spoke to me. It wasn’t quite the watch yet, it was her convincing me that the GMT bezel was too crowded and didn’t look great on my wrist. And that seemed right. After giving it some thought, especially considering that I would eventually get a Sub anyway as part of my collection, perhaps there was no better one to get than the most iconic sub of them all. So I bought it, and it just keeps growing on me. I shared it with some friends, and they thought it was gorgeous. And that’s the word for it, it is a beautiful watch. It’s like the best .... fashion accessory! And to address your point about how much you might lose, I have no idea. But I know one reason why I bought it even though a sub was frankly quite far down on my list of immediate priorities, was the knowledge that if I really really hated it and couldn’t bear the thought of owning it, the hit I would take on it would be well within my tolerance level. I have no regrets about it at all now. I am in fact grateful to my AD rep who pushed me to get it, even if she tried a little bit to pass it off as being as coveted as the SS models. I would absolutely not pay more for a Hulk. Pay more for steel than gold? And who knows how long the fad will go on anyway. My guess is if you get the Bluesy, you won’t want the hulk anymore either. Thank y'all! I'm gonna pay the AD a visit today. If I only lose $1k or so in a year that'd be well worth getting a new hulk. @watchlurv - when you say I need to resist wearing it - is there a significant value loss if I wear it even if I don't damage it?

Had LV, sold LV. Bought bluesy, kept bluesy. I prefer the weight and I found that I got tired of green.

There are better things to invest in with a greater return than a watch. And to chime in with my thoughts, I went from a Hulk that I wore as a daily for a year, to a DSSD, to a 116613LB. The Bluesy is here to stay. It blows the Hulk away by far. |

There will always be hairline scratches and marks on it from wearing it, no matter how cautious you are. You’ll start pondering how in the world those hairline scratches happened. If it stays untouched and in the safe it’ll rise with the price of the market. If market goes up you’d actually be making $ on it. Two tone subs used to go for -20% off just 2 years ago. Nowadays they’re pretty much at retail or just hovering above. |

Bluesy
I have both in my collection along with SD43 and SS Datejust 41. I rotate these watches but wear the bluesy 50% of the time. The other 50% is divided among the remaining three. It’s a stunning watch and now both of my kids are fighting over who will get it later.
