So I get married in October and my lovely AD and I spent a considerable amount of time playing with options which I finally settled on 4mm Platinum band in comfort fit, finally brushed by the RSC Watchmaker to mirror a Rolex brushed finish.

I’m over the moon. It’s a wonderful thing.

Whilst there I had the luck to try on a CHNR. So now I have to decide whether to uninvite my guests and buy the watch

or let it go. I already have an Explorer 1 and have a Sea-Dweller on it’s way. This thing gave me goosebumps though.

I’m sleeping on it.

Get married and invite the closest relatives. Friends at a wedding only serve to increase the price of the wedding and also to have arguments to criticize you. No matter how wonderful your wedding may be, it will always suffer criticisms it probably doesn't deserve.

A wedding isn't really the time to be focused on obtaining watches. There are more CHNRs out there. Delay until the loss isn't at the expense of your guests.

Invite less guests, fewer flowers, a cheaper photographer, smaller cake..

You can haemorrhage some serious money on a Big Day but at the end of the day that’s all it was - a day.

The watch will be a friend for life, something you can pass down.

If it is a for-life piece it would be nice wearing to the wedding, wouldn't it? ;-)

But an Explorer will do just fine.

I bought the Explorer to wear at the wedding. I decided to let this one go. So far I’ve passed on a couple of desirable models but that’s life!

I think next year there will be a couple of exciting incomings.

The watch will go up in value longer term. The wedding is a sunk cost, spend less on it and buy the watch.... you know it makes sense ;)
