1665 Unboxing

I have something here I'd like to share.

Through some help from some friends, I was able to add a new vintage piece to my collection. Specifically a 1665 great white from Andrew Shear of Shear Time. This watch is a 1665 great white mk3 (open 6). I purchased the watch because it is an unpolished example of my favorite vintage diver.

Is it like new? No way. Bumps and bruises? Yup. It has plenty of character, but it hasn't seen a buffing wheel - nor will it!

So .... there are countless modern unboxing threads, but very few vintage. I thought I'd add a bit about how it was received and what additional special accoutrements were included with the watch.

I'd like to share that the transaction with Andrew was flawless. A special thanks to John for the heads up.

The fedex box arrives!

Double boxed.

A watch burrito.

A ziplock bag!

A wonderful leather Sheartime case!

The watch, the rolex polishing cloth, and a leather sheartime "card" - expertly packed and presented.

Some watch shots:

Some great crown guard pics. Note the width, shape, and edges.

Note the placement and depth of the helium escape valve (HEV).

And some dinner wrist shots

#2 (note the ding on the leading lug)

I am very grateful and proud to own something as nice as this watch.
Thank you.

Cheers,
Steve

Well done! That's an exquisite piece. I noticed it on shear's site earlier this week...it vanished in a hurry! I did drool over it a little, sorry.

Steve, nice to see where that beauty landed. An unpolished watch with character that is meant to be worn. Enjoy the new addition!

Steve you have a good eye. The watch looks amazing. Sharp case and fat crown guards with a beautiful patina. I'm glad the watch ended up on your wrist.
