1908 W & D Pocket Watch - Help needed

Hi

I have acquired a 1908 Sterling Silver Wilsdorf & Davis pocket watch ( serial number 3078), which has been serviced and is in full working order.

Can anyone please help me to get a valuation on this watch?

Sorry, TRF doesn't give out valuations. Against the rules

Hi

I am not trying to break the rules. Having read Alcan's post, I am fascinated by the history of this pocket watch.

I am just asking for help in getting more information about this watch and how to get a valuation for insurance purposes!

It's definately a neat watch. It'd be best to find an appraiser in your area or talk to your Rolex AD for an appraisal an insurance company will use

Hi Christine,

what you have appears to be a beautiful example of an early Wilsdorf & Davis ladies pendant watch. Please post a couple of clear, sharp pix of the caseback showing the hallmarks, and the back side of the movement so we can determine its age and authenticity.

If you've browsed the forum (which I suspect you have), then you've seen this restoration of my old W&D:

I'd love to see another one from the same year.

Al

P.S. Forget local evaluations/appraisals. If its authentic, the market will determine its value.

More Pics

I hope these are clear enough for you to see the serial numbers.

The outer casing is 3073 and the inner case number is 8146.

Regards

Christine

Below the W&D stamp are .925 (sterling silver) and to the right of it a stylized U in a crossed oval (post-1904 London assay office import mark).

Looking good so far, but can you post a clearer pic of the stamp below them, and above the serial number? That's the year stamp.

Btw, the movement in your pix appears to be the same as in my watch.

Also, are there any hallmarks on the silver chain/bow?

Sorry that my photography skills are lacking!

The movement and also the pattern on the outer case seem to be the same as your watch.

I have tried to take some clearer pictures for you.

The bow is most likely a later addition and is marked Sterling Silver - I cannot see any hallmarks.

Chris
