More pics showing the NATO strap in their IG story. Also, the size looks about 40mm and the case has the proportions of the Bathyscaphe

It would be a big surprise if Blancpain is willing to manufacture a new case size for hodinkee.

I don't think it'll be a new case size, necessarily. I mean there's already a 38mm Bathy that Hodinkee did a big write up on.

https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/bl...-38mm-hands-on

If I had to guess right now, I would say it's going to be in that case, with that bezel, but "classic" FF dial layout.

I'll be checking this out at 7AM PT tomorrow morning as well. I've been going back and forth between the standard 5015 and the upcoming titanium case with sapphire case back. Perhaps there's now a third option in the mix.

Pictures to help:

My guess is a no date version similar to the LE they just released, the Barakuda, on a NATO and strap option.

If it's similarly priced to the Barakuda, then my money is safe. Not blown away by that LE earlier this year.

Agreed. I really don’t need another watch this year.

I was so blown away I couldn't get my deposit in fast enough.

I haven't been this anxiously anticipating a watch in years. Barakuda just grabbed me completely. That's what makes this hobby great. The difference of opinions of collectors. And hell, if everyone loved it, I probably wouldn't have made the list! My good fortune!

Interested to see what Hodinkee comes up with. Have this funny feeling it will sell out quicker than the Barakuda no matter what it looks like just do to Hodinkee fanboys. We shall see.

These releases kill me. I mean, it's so hard to know whether or not you like something enough to put down $10k for it in the blink of an eye. Their IWC release, for example, I really came around on. But by that point, it's way too late.

You almost have to do what we're doing right now. Go through all the scenarios in your head, deliberate over it, and wait to see which direction you've already decided upon when you finally see the watch.

Totally agree! Let's say I loved it tomorrow. I could always pull my Barakuda deposit with the boutique in NYC and put money down on this. But, that is a big decision, and one i would hate to make in an hour of looking at a few pictures online. So it sucks for us, but it's great for Hodinkee. They create a frenzy and it ensures the watches sell out.

I'll be on at launch tomorrow. I can't see it overwhelming my desire for the Kuda, but who knows. The thought of having to make a decision so quickly leaves me a bit cold though. Nature of the beast.

Judging the pictures also think it will be a FF Bathyscaphe 38 mm

Yes. Looks to be the 38mm bathyscaphe. Likely without a date and im guessing a matte dial.

It’s too bad Hodinkee doesn’t have a return policy (I assume they don’t)

Definitely agree, they are preying on the hype (and doing a pretty good job)

Good news is there are plenty of those IWC's available right now on the secondary market for right around Hodinkee retail price, should be the same for the Blancpain in a few months

It seems the bezel is non-luminous, unlike regular FFs ...

agreed. I’d really love it if they released the full write-up, photos, etc. at least a few days before the sale opened.

Called it. I knew it would be a bathyscaphe. The question is did they do a no date.

I think this is a good move by BP. It dosen't alienate customers that are buying the Kuda, or have already purchased a LE 40mm FF. So far, Marc Hayek is keeping the integrity of the 40mm FF series, which is awesome.

Does a bathy sell out in 60 seconds like a 40mm FF does

Been thinking more about this. I must admit I would be disappointed if they do a killer 40MM no date FF for Hodinkee. While I do not begrudge anyone getting a great watch, it does make me wonder why I tried so hard and put up a full deposit to get a Kuda if they "devalue" that by continually releasing 40MM FFs. I hope thye go another route. 38MM Bath, 42MM FF, something other than 40MM FF. They don't need to protect those of us who got a MILSPEC or Kuda, but it is kind of a thumb in our eye if they don't.
