The $100,000 Aquanaut.....Is this too much?

Avi & Co has listed a khaki 5168 for $96,040. I'm sorry, but nothing about that watch other than random hype is worth 100k. What do you think?

Personally I’m not a fan of the green. So I find it hard to stomach at that price indeed.

Yeah, not the best looking color combo. Besides, there's literally 58 other Pateks using the movement so there's nothing special there.

Likewise.

I'll stick with waiting a year or two and paying retail. Thanks!

Chrono24 got few 5168G-010s listed for around £ 80K. The average list price for a 5168G-001 is around £ 55k and I am surprised that 5168G-010 commanding such a high premium over the 5168G-001

Grenade aquanaut price = 5167 price + white gold cost + rolex hulk price. Thats how they come up with the price

People are trying... There have prob been close to zero transactions for the green one so far...

Few ADs mentioned to me that the demand for 5168G-001 is significantly higher than the demand for 5168G-010

Too much for me, but I'm sure it will be sold very soon. This is quite a good looker.

Interesting... The green one is certainly special (for better or worse) whereas the blue one is IMHO a less desirable but more expensive alternative to the 5167A or blue 5711. First and foremost a great way for Patek to generate some extra cash - pay a little more and you can have your Patek sports watch a little quicker (if you don't mind the size and the white gold).

It won’t reach that actual value in resale for some time, so if you can’t afford it as a consumable...

Not really sure of that , given the crazy prices being paid- the way to tell is by the market. Let’s see if AVI sells it.:-)

I thought that these would be popular (green and the Chinese market etc) but this is insane at 3xRRP (or near enough). And has anyone actually seen one yet (as in for real apart from the models at fairs and trade shows etc? ) I note there are already a few grey dealers listing them on Chrono24 but wonder how many really are out there at present......
Pity it is so in demand as suspect it will be hard to source.....
FD.

Demand is high across the board for both models

The greens are only going so hight atm is no one has them, so why not ask what you want, if someone is willing to pay it, then more fool them..

I certainly won't be selling mine :

5168G-010s are being delivered now. I have seen one and Russell also posted a picture of a 5168G-010. I prefer 5968, 5167 and 5168G-001 over 5168G-010

Blue is a better color and the 20th anniversary edition. Cant see the green going for 2.5x retail for the long term.

I believe RED or Rose Gold would be more of an attraction to the Chinese public. Look at the Apple iPhones when it first came out with the RED color, every Chinese consumer wanted it!
