Grand Seiko "Skyflake"

I think the "Skyflake" is a beautiful piece. I have some concerns about the brand, when it comes to service and value retention. Can anyone shed some light.

Can you shed some light on your "concerns" ?

Value retention: without a crystal ball, your guess is as good as anybody's and who cares.
Service: I sent my SBGE201 SD to New York when the hour hand stopped houring.
Came back after 4 1/2 weeks new movement and fully serviced at no charge, as it was within the 3yr warranty period.

Some GS hold value. Some lose some value. others lose alotta value. The market is fickle on these.

If value retention is a concern in any way...STOP considering GS and choose ROLEX. Concern resolved.

I think certain spring drive references including "Skyflake" have decent value retention not same/above retail.

I think the Skyflake is super nice though, wish it came standard with the bracelet, I think it ships on leather.

Skyflake has been holding its value pretty decently, and there are GS models that hold pretty steady, some even trading well above retail.

The ones that don't, you just buy pre-owned, let someone else take the hit, and get a ton of watch for your money. It's a win-win.

If your interested in watches, GS accuracy is on par or exceeds Rolex, tudor finishing exceeds Rolex and on level with the big 3 and their robustness is on par with other luxury brands. Value retention-get stocks. If you want a great watch get a GS.

Great advice, just one small tiny flaw, you cannot buy a Rolex at the moment.

Rolex if holding value is a priority. GS if you appreciate the craft and design - supporting the company financially so that they continue and produce exceptional pieces.
