I can't find the etched crown on 2012 Daytona

Spent a couple of minutes with the magnifying glass, to no avail - should it be there?

It’s there.
As you use the loupe, shine a flash light across the crystal, and at a certain angle at the 6 o’clock position you will see it. Should be at least a 10x loupe

They are hard to spot sometimes.. try going outside in bright sunlight with a loupe

Even with just a magnifying glass hold the watch at about a twenty degree angle under the light so the crystal above the six is now over the black dial background. It’ll pop right out. Not sure of the play with a light color dial though.

I can't find the etched crown on 2012 Daytona

It took me a full hour to find mine, on my new Wimbledon. I used a loupe and my phone’s light. I turned the watch upside down, so 6:00 was up top and concentrated on the serial number area, right below 6:00, and I saw it. On mine, it was visible just to the left of one of the digits in the number. On my OP, it was in the same area. Took me several days to find that one. I even took the watch back to the AD to have them show me where to look. it’s there! Since all my Rolexes are 36 mm, the LECs are visible in the rehaut area. I can’t speak for larger dial watches, but look at the very edge of the crystal, below 6:00 marker.

The focusing plane for the crown is slightly below the surface of the crystal. Often we focus at the dial and so cannot see the crown because it is out of focus. Also, on the Daytona, there is no cyclops and so the crown may be almost amyplace around the crystal if it was not indexed properly.

Try finding one on a DEEPSEA 126660 ...
It is there ---the most difficult to find in my collection.
On subs, it is very easy to find...

Some of us are more compulsive, than you. I HAD to see mine, despite knowing they were, indeed, there. I wish I could be more like you, Michelle.

The Daytona does not have a cyclops, so if it has a service crystal, the etched crown could be anywhere along the edge, not just at 6 o'clock.

Amazingly, this photo I took of my two DD’s shows both etched crowns…I certainly wasn’t trying to do it.

Guess I figure since they were purchased from an AD or Boutique I'm not worried about it.

If it still has the original crystal it’s there. Maybe it’s misaligned and not at the six o clock position. This sometimes happens.

Like mentioned above, shine some light at different angles on the dial and move it slowly around.

Being a 2012 the crystal could have been replaced with a after market one. Also, since there’s no date magnifier the crown could be be at another location other than the 6 o’clock position.

I have a Explorer 39 and it’s at the 12 o’clock position. I’ve seen them slightly off e.g. 7 o’clock on new watches.

They tend to be easier to see on dark dials. I was convinced my 216570 Polar didn't have one, until I eventually found it.

I always have a hard time finding the LEC on my DJ41. I find it very easily on my Batman, but the DJ is a struggle to find.

Did you buy the watch from an AD in India by any chance?

So this thread had me sitting in my office, using the magnifier feature on my phone to try & find the LEC on my DJ 41. I couldn't find it, even though I know it's there because I had found it in the past.

Finally when I got home I used a 10x loupe & a flashlight to find it right away, lol.
