Speedmaster: White vs Black

Well, with the new white dial being released I thought it'd be interesting to see what the forums preference is.

I really like the white dial, very well executed by Omega IMO. But part of me thinks the black dial is just the right choice for this watch

I'll be adding one of these in the next year or two and right now I'm leaning 60/40 in favor of the black dial, but we all know how quickly that can change

Curios to see where this poll ends up.

I’d like to a lume shot of both.

That said, the white dial does look great

If I didn’t already own a Speedy, I think I’d go black … it’s just so classic. That’s said, since I do own a black, I voted white

I absolutely love the white dial.

The black is a total classic

But the glossy white dial, applied markers and logo, and the splashes of red just really do it for me.

I think you have to first have the black dial moonwatch just as Niel Armstrong did, then add the white dial to your collection.

Without the history of NASA I'd say white is slightly better design wise, but black is most legible and this more suited for the task.

Why does the white dial look larger?
Is this perception also noticeable on the wrist?

Same with the 226570. White dial looks bigger. It's why my wif...err...some people like to wear black.

That white dial might look pretty stunning on a red rubber strap.

That said.

Black Dials matter. I'm sticking with current 3861.

White gives people that panda-like look without being a total Daytona rip-off. Also it now fits in perfectly with a Sub as the perfect 2 watch collection. For me at least.

Someone should post a Michael Jackson meme…

I’ll be getting a white to pair with the 321, and my other speedies.

If only one, 3861 black. If two, then 321 + white.

Nice Brian!

For OP, if it’s a one and done Speedy then my vote is black dial, especially if it’s the 321!

But….. who stops at one Speedy?!! I’ll likely get the new white dial to add to my current two and then have a great triad.

Since I have the Speedmaster FOIS, I couldn't justify another black dial speedy.
This white dial however just might be enough of a change up to consider it to compliment each other!!!

This is a tough one! Both are amazing and the new white dial is great. I don't own a Speedmaster I would likely go with the classic black dial for the first.

If you have only one watch, or you really care about the "authenticity", go black dial. But for me, it will be a white dial for my collection. There aren't a lot of other sporty white dial watches that I like.

Black is the classic. But I have always been a sucker for the white dial speedys. I have the new black dial version and I would probably trade it for the white. Anyone need a left right nut? I would totally trade you for it.

Speedmaster: White vs Black

Tough decision. I really like the new white, but the black is a classic and also great. I’ve always loved how the black dial Moonwatch was so legible.

I think the choice will be largely dependent upon personal preference as well as what else is in someone’s collection.

For me, I have an FOIS (black dial), ceramic BSOTM moonphase, and a factory brown dial Moonwatch from a couple of decades ago. I feel extremely fortunate to own these and love each of them. Since they’re in my collection, I would (and may) choose the new white dial to add to my collection.

I love the white dial. And I own the Green Dial Moonshine Speedmaster.

But they are both "subsequent" moonwatches in my opinion.

Any collection can always handle one more moonwatch.

But your first Moonwatch should be a black dial hesalite.

I feel strongly about this.

But we can still be friends if you get the white dial first.

As a white dial ceramic bezel Daytona owner, I think this Speedmaster is far more attractive

Agree with others who say black (has to be hesalite!) first. Same if only one, but Omega did a fantastic job on the white, and it would be a great addition to a collection. I’ve had my 1861 eleven years now, and still love it.

I am planning to add the white dial to go with my 321, I think it will be a nice combo of speedys (vintage style and modern style).
