Overpolished airking?

Thinking of buying a 1982 airking. Does it look overpolished? i.e. the crown looks to have flat spots on the 5 balls, and the pin looks to protrude, proud of the casing.TIA

Perhaps just a touch?

I am a little surprised that you had to ask?

Looks like an old beat up watch. Why would you want that?

Ive only been collecting a short while just trying to learn and grateful for the opinions of people who have far more experience. We all have to start somewhere.

Sometimes the spring bar pins protrude because the wrong ones have been installed. But from the one pic I can’t say that’s the case.

Smaller spring bars would help and clasp covers are replaceable. What’s the rest look like?

Additional photos of it would help.

I would say that this watch has seen a few overhauls and case finishing operations.

It's several decades old and so some of this is expected. Spring bar pivots sticking out needs to be assessed by what spring bars are installed.

Decent looking watch.

I might say that it is older than you cite.

If you don't mind pouring some money into it, I think it would clean up nicely. Is it one of those dual-ref 5500s?

The case seems to be correct.

I would think that this was a little late for the dial.

Looks exactly like the one they keep showing close ups of in the movie 'A Cure for Wellness'!
