difficulties wearing a rolex.
Hi All,
First let me wish you all a happy new year and all goods for 2018! My name is Huib, I'm from the Netherlands, and I'm new to this forum, but have a rolex and tudor for many years. My collection: - casio PRG-550B - Tudor Pelagos LHD (No 1715, for the counters :-) No. was on personal request.) - Rolex Vintage ref. 6285 - Rolex GMT master II BLNR Since I'm wearing my batman i'm encounter some negative reactions, I worked hard and saved money for 3,5 years to by this beautiful piece of craftsmanship. I was over the moon when I bought it, but getting mixed feelings due to the reactions,. Like people don't appreciate it or compare me with criminal activities, or even say that someone will kill me for the watch,. So my question to you all,. how are your experiences with wearing a rolex?? Krgrds, Huib. |

Hey Huib,
1. Keep out of dark alleys in Amsterdam or wherever you are located in the Netherlands. 2. Stay away from negative and envious people. 3. Get more involved with the forum and ditto you shall soon be worry-free. Welcome! |

I think criminals tend to go down the two-tone date just route or day-date if successful at their job... No but seriously just ignore these guys and find new friends who share your passion for watches.

I'm honestly surprised people notice. Out of the different Rolexes I've worn over the years, I have maybe received 1-2 comments randomly on my Sub. Maybe another 1-2 on my 116613LB.
Anyway, how you wish to spend your money is up to you. No one has ever commented negatively about my pieces, but I can easily think of how in the last couple years people have probably spent a Rolex on their coffee habit. Maybe you prefer watches and they prefer vacations. Different strokes for different folks. Don't worry about it. |

Hi Huib,
I´m from the Netherlands to, but living in Spain! I can imagine a little bit because of the "sober" (nuchter) mentality we sometimes encounter in the Netherlands. Personally I get more reactions on my Black Bay Red bezel then on my 114060. People think tat my Black Bay is a Rolex! lol I´ll wear my watches with pride everywhere I go. Only we know how hard we had to work and save money to finally get one. So I personally wouldn´t give a s*it what people say.. A real watch enthusiast would only appreciate to encounter with somebody with a good taste for watches! |

Estupendo! I´m living in Alicante, pretty close! I though it might be a typical dutch thing what has happened to you. Just wear and enjoy wearing what ever you feel like. BTW, the number of your LHD, 1715.. Your favorite number?

But yes, the reactions were from people from Holland ,. in Spain they are not so much "into" watches. Long story, but yes my favorite numbers are 15 and 17, so I asked Tudor if it was possible to request a number, they said yes, at that time they were already producing in the 'thousand' range, so asked for 1517 or 1715,. and Voila ! with special thanks to Tudor and the Director Europe (a dutch guy) 1715 it was ! |

Be very careful where you wear your watch. You must be alert. A lot of people on this forum have never lived in dangerous areas or don’t know how criminals think, so don’t take their advice. I know people that have been robbed and hurt for a lot less so be cautious. And Surround yourself with quality people. I love my BLNR too.
