I don't give a damn about stickers, but no bloody yahoo is going to engrave my new watch.

I will agree to the engraving because I really want the watch but by doing the engraving they are decreasing the value of my watch. They backed down on their policy and allowed me not to engrave. Then, as they were packing my watch, I told them not to remove the stickers because I was to do that myself. It's like a "rite of passage" when you open the package and removing the stickers one by one before you wear it. Well, another surprise! They said Rolex had suggested for them to remove the stickers before selling to the customers. I didn't argue anymore but told them that they have the weirdest store policies! I told my SA, how would you feel if you buy a Birkin handbag from Hermes, full price and Hermes told you that you have to paint your initials on your Birkin bag? Would you let them do it? She did not respond and completely ignored what I said.
Inscription is just crazy.
Removing the stickers is normal practice - my AD's on two separate continents also do the same.

Sounds strange. Never heard of this before.

Aside, does the value of the watch fall if there’s an inscription at the back? Even if it’s generic and harmless?

Also, lots of complaints about Rolex not doing anything about the watches making their way to greys. What else can they do?

I personally don’t see an issue with sticker removal mandate, maybe even a generic inscription - put the model number or date of purchase maybe.

Do ya’ll typically believe every new poster that comes on here with an extraordinary AD story?

May be true, but I tend to take AD complaints from new posters with a huge grain of salt.

Thank y’all for your responses and comments. I got my Batman GMT today, untouched brand new. I’m trying to figure out how to post a photo. Nonetheless, I’m over the moon!

Was it a chain AD or family owned? Not that it matters, I think it is still wrong for them to tell you to do that to a new watch but just curious.

Pretty sure OP won’t be naming the “AD”.

I wasn’t asking for the store name. I was asking if it was a chain or not.

I think it is family owned. They have 4 branches in Illinois. They treated me well in the end. I received my GMT-batman via Fedex this morning, brand-new. If I can figure out how to post photos, I'd share it here.
