It could make sense, depending on the demand for Sub vs Sub Date. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Rolex can not discountinue Sub ! The no date model will again come as before.... The Sub will have new movement (which is no different that the old one), and slimmer lugs. So the update will be similar between the Batman and Batgirl, however there will not be jubilee bracelet thankfully. That is what I feel, and will most probably happen. Stay tuned :) |

Could Rolex possibly discountinue the no date Sub? Maybe, but highly doubtful.

The lugs will be slimmer but there will not be much difference because the current sub has already got really thin, tapered and elegant case compared to the Gmt ii which looked too thick before the update. 40 MM probably wont change as they already played with the diameter of Sd and explorer 2 and now they are aware that the watches are again going back thinner and smaller in the market. Thats why they are thinned the lugs and used jubilee to emphasize it. |

They already did for a short period in 2011 (case update). I was after a no date which was not even released. Then decided to pay extra for the sub date and once the no date was available the prices already have jumped several times. So I got sub date cheaper than sub no date which was a smart decision. Sub date has more character and easier to sell.

I hope they discontinue it so all you nincompoops who preface it with “no date” or “ND” will stop having to type that nonsense all over this forum! There is a Submariner and a Submariner Date, the clarification already exists!

All very well, apart from the fact that the dial simply says “Submariner” and not “Submariner Date”. Let it be man. There are worse nicknames people call watches. Such as “Hulk” and “Batman”.
