I have owned the Sky-Dweller several times and it is a fine watch. For the trade you were offered I would do it. The VC is a special watch from a historic brand. Depending on the model and generation the resale can be soft but in blue you should not have too much of an issue. Go for it.

Good to see many owners of the VC, a brand that has certainly benefited from both the hype overflow and a nice new gen update.

Vacheron and Rolex are not on the same category: Rolex is bling in your face yet solid and a robust tool watch. Vacheron might be more subtle but is far superior and therefore more delicate. VC is on top of the pyramid, right next to PP.

Not only I think the overseas is super sexy, remember that the movement is miles ahead in quality, the poinçon de Genève requires to match extremely exigent criteria and guaranties excellency in swiss watchmaking.

It is you who have to decide : do you want the fat Rolex around your wrist to show everybody who's the boss, or do you want the piece of art that only people into watches might recognize its value ?

I think both are amazing watches, but I still favor VC, especially if you can have a good deal !

I would. The VC is a magnificent watch and you already own some Rolex models.

I think the fact that you are considering it shows that you would rather the VC, so i would say defo go for it.

Some of the VC models are gorgeous. I think it’s a great idea!

Killer piece...I love it.

I guess I should hold my tongue until I see in person but from what I've seen in pics and vids its just not my favourite blue

Black is awesome tho, great choice

If value is not on the agenda, I say go for it. I was in the same dilemma but got rid of my rolex and never been happier with the VCs. Also it's not as commonly seen compared to the many subs/gmts etc.

Id like to see the blue dial in person as well. I'm really stoked with this black dial though, it has a deep liquid look. The bright polished WG hands and markers really sparkle and seem to jump off the dial. It's not just another black dial, its like none I've ever seen, very mesmerizing.

The blue dial VC photos do not do it justice, in my opinion. Of course I am biased. But, I have yet to see in person a better looking dial with depth and changes, depending on the light.

As an owner of both brands (albeit both early 2000’s models) the Vacheron is a level above any Rolex I have owned or handled / worn.

In fact... it has somewhat ruined collecting for me. As nothing compares to it (in my budget...)

As with all advice, your personal preference should weight heaviest in the decision making process.

For me, I would definitely make the trade or sell the SD privately to buy the VC.

Sure, it's the 'better' watch being a VC, but more importantly to me, for a travel watch, it's not a Rolex. I don't like Rolex for the attention they bring from non-enthusiasts, and when traveling I am even more likely to not like the attention a Rolex garners. Add to this the strap change system and you have a near-perfect travel watch in my opinion in the VC.

VC is on another level so if I were you I will go ahead for a trade, especially Overseas 3rd gen is getting hotter recently and shall hold value better. However, would you consider trading in your Air-king or EXII instead of the sky dweller?

What a tough choice - I would make the exchange. I personally think the overseas is the nicest looking of the holy trinity soorts watches. While there is nauilus and royal oak craziness now, these watches are just big blocks of metal. As for the overseas....that is a work of art.

I wouldn’t do it ... NO!!!
Keep the Sky D and trade the AK and Explorer for the VC
if your really hard up for the VC.
Then again it’s not my $$$ so ultimately it’s what
you want ... Good Luck!!!

Another post for me on your thread, just wondering if you made a move? My Rolex have been lonely in the watchbox for two months now.
My suggestion > One way or another get the VC...
